Hi All,

We are looking for April get together ... around Mid to End of the month.

We are planning to go to Winery, have lunch then chats. We are planning to get our own bus and leave together. If you are interested ... we have 4/10, 4/17/, or 4/24 take a vote or clear you calendars. Majority rules ...

This is Trouble1's idea ... I can't take the credit. She did a great job with outting to Comedy Club.

-rh-

BTW. if you absolutly wants to get together before hand ... I am open for that too but majority rule . Ski at Tahoe ? ... We plan to go Slasa this weekend ...

Dinner was good. Thanks for the company.

Our little group had the privilege of meeting another new MBer Tamara. It was good to be able to meet and talk.

Look forward to the next meeting. Hope Believer shows up (by the way, she isn't old - ). Not sure how big that bus will be but I am sure it will accmodate our group.

I think the benefit of these get togethers shows us that we are real people, dealing with real issues and surviving. This is a good thing Regardless of our M status, our personal recovery status is in tact and in many cases doing quite well.

That's what I wanted to share.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Our mini-van will seat 6 comfortably, 7 if we make Orchid sit in the middle And since I don't do wine, I'll be happy to drive so y'all can drink. If there's a lot of us, maybe we can rent a bigger van?

This wine trip is T1's idea. My H was willing to be the designated driver and will still be but if you want to drive I am sure he would acquiese (sp???).

They were thinking of the Sonoma area I think. Wanted to visit some smaller wineries and have a nice picnic type lunch.

H's friend has a limo van but it is not available. So the option to use the van sounds good. We could meet in Pleasanton at my work.

There are at least 8 that I am aware of so we may need a bigger van. Will look into that option.

So you want me to sit in the middle? I was always the one who had to sit on the hump seat in the car when I was younger. Guess some things never change - LOL!!

Realistically, we can't all car pool together since we live all over the place. I think it is easier for J.R to go direct to Sonoma than go to Pleasanton first.

I will let T1 tell us the secret place via email

Just so long as I have a little bit of "recovery time" after the last winery, before I've got to think about driving... food would be good, too... I think T1 had mentioned something about a picnic combined into this also, which would be nice - lots of cheap/free booze and little/no food could be trouble! Let us know if we should bring anything!

See you, off to Shasta this weekend... weather looks good, hope I'm ready.

Hi Guys!

If I can offer my 2cents?
Sonoma always has less traffic and fewer crowds than Napa, but the Napa tours and vineyards are more impressive. Wineries are open limited hours, like 10a-4/5p so best to get their early and have a plan. If not, you may only get to one or two for the entire day .

Generally, Pick a Valley (Sonoma or Napa), then start at one end and work your way toward the other. As soon as you get to town, pick up one of the free brouchures with all the wineries listed. This will have hours and a great map.

Narrow the list to about 4/5 wineries. Find lunch and deli snackables in between. Bring enough glasses for everyone and an opener. Bonus for napkins and water.

My favorite places:
Clos Pegase (sp?) has a fantastic tour. The owners are art collectors, and the property is filed with wonderful sculptures and other art. The guide was great. It's one of the few free tours in Napa. I highly recommend . (wine was ok, too 'French' for my liking) Only twice a day I think, so check for times.
Clos Pegase

Sterling Vineyards in Calistoga has a great picnic area open to the public. It's on a hill with a great view of the Napa Valley. Their wine was really good and reasonably priced. Buy a bottle (many under $15) and use their tables, it's really nice. Great place to stop for a midday cheese snack.

The Robert Mondovi tours was VERY educational, gave a nice wine101. Smelled wonderful! Pretty estate (wine ok). Must book appointment in advance, they do sell out. Wear comfortable shoes.

Matanzas Creek on the Somoma side is georgeous, but you need an appt for the tour. Just stopping buy for the tasting was great, I've never done the tour. Very pretty and I really liked the wine.
Matanzas Creek

Domain Carneros is a beautiful estate! Sit outside have the best 'champagne' available in the vallies... Fantastic wine, too (more expensive than most). (skip Gloria Ferrer chmpagen cave tour... tiny, quick, and the champagne wasnt very good).

gosh, I wish i could go..... got my mouth watering. May drag H out this weekend, anyway I've been to a lot!!! If any questions, I'll be glad to help!! - Dru

J.R., enjoys your trip & see you 4/17, unless you feel like going to Salsa dancing.

Drucilla, well T1 already has a place in mind. Probably later during the year you could organize one for us, that is the help we need .

Dru,

Those sound like fun places. Can you join us? My H (xws) is coming and maybe KS41's H....so your H can come also.

JR,
Have a fun trip. Sure jealous of all the trips you get to take.

RH & T1,
Thought is might be better to meet in Pleasanton because it is central for most, unless there is a better spot. I think JR is only about 30 minutes away and then he won't have to be driving as far.

Where are the places you mapped out? Whose coordinating lunch? I don't want to brown bag but would be willing to make a few dishes (chicken katsu, spam musubi, veggie platter, brownies, potato salad, etc.).

I am truly getting excited. Does anyone know if Believer is going to join us?

My brain is tired. That's all for now.

there already , he could decide.

It might be easier for me & lulu to go up to ks41 and car pool.

It is a month a way anyway.

All,
I thead-jack my own thread. My 2 D's rink has a skater show on 3/28 from 5:00PM-8:30PM. Anyone wants to go to see ?. I have tickets available.

Ok RH,

So I am geographically challenged. There I said you, you now know one of my needs. LOL!!!

So we change the meeting place closer up the bay or pick up JR on the way. You all decide and let us know. I'm not driving anyway.... I volunteer to be the wine taster...... oops that what we are all suppose to be doing, eh? LOL!!!

BTW, it is virtually impossible to hi-jack your OWN thread, RH. I mean really you could hit us up for buying your children's school raising funds on this thread and probably make a few bucks. LOL!!! But you know some of us have kiddies and pets too!

When is T1 going to provide the details? Who is organizing lunch? Am I hyped up about this at 11:30 at night or what?!?!?

My youngest would be the first skater to open the show ... don't be late if you wanna to come .

Anyone else ? I have to get the ticket before next Friday. Show is on 3/28.

Orchid, we are going to a few mom and pop wineries and I think Ferrari Corona (sp) as well and then having a picnic lunch at my favorite winery. You'll see, it will be fun! Trust me! Let's not get carried away with the details.

later alligator!
