Be careful about expecting him to talk about his "dreams". Conversation needs to be comfortable for both parties. If my wife was constantly wanting me to wax poetic about hopes and dreams, I would start to run. There's nothing wrong wrong with wanting to have deeper conversations but there has to be light hearted conversation too. And you might have to start with leading the conversation. My wife is not a big mushy feelings person. She'll start conversations with something humorous like something she heard or saw. Or she'll bring a furniture catalog and we'll talk about what styles we like out of the catalog. No it's not deep but it's kinda fun window shopping sort of and we can talk about fun stuff.
