The River of Uncertainty<BR>I shuffle toward the precipice of agony<BR>Drenched to the skin in sweat from my despair<BR>The memory of your smile held close beside me<BR>Your sparkling eyes, soft skin, and curly hair<P>And holding tight I plunge into the unknown<BR>Into the murky filth of the abyss<BR>I gasp for air above the swirling whirlpools<BR>My sanity preserved by our next kiss<P>I struggle that the tide won’t pull me under<BR>I scan the waves just looking for the shore<BR>A bit downstream a waterfall does thunder<BR>Incessantly, I’m carried toward its roar<P>I try to swim toward shore across the current<BR>And see another floating in the fray<BR>The one who holds the sparkle, joy, and laughter<BR>Trapped here in the same torrent this sad day<P>I swim to her and hold her in my arms now<BR>Our bodies ever nearer to the drop<BR>I long to make her safe but I don’t know how<BR>I pray that I could make the current stop<P>I don’t know what the outcome of our plight is<BR>Will we be dashed to pieces far below?<BR>Or will we find an island in this darkness<BR>That gives us an escape from river’s flow?<P>Some happy tree that overhangs the river<BR>A willow branch with refuge to the side<BR>A chance to reach dry land again and shiver<BR>When thinking of the stream and its cruel ride.
