So many years of fighting
Have led to doubt and fear
The wall that we were righting
Has been strengthened by our tears

The foundation just grows stronger
As we run away from pain
The arguments get longer
While emotions are just drained

The hopelessness consumes us
We are lost and don’t know why
Instinctively we loose trust
Then the accusations fly

The loving bond we once shared
Seemed to leave us in the night
Where once we had someone who cared
Now all we do is fight

We hold on a little longer
Simply hoping for a change
We think that if we’re stronger
Then our world won’t be deranged

We live inside our deep shell
Wanting desperately to flee
Denying we are in hell
When the truth would set us free

Resentment keeps on building
And the hatred seems to grow
There is no thought of yielding
As we strike another blow

Okay If anyone's interested, I finished it. I gave it to E last night and also let his therapist read it. He seemed to be impressed by it. It was cleansing for me to write. I hope you all enjoy.

Yes the journey gets real lonely
Once the burden gets too deep
Because you’ve lost your one and only
There’s no solace in your sleep

If you look into the mirror
And are shocked and have to stare
Your feelings become clearer
When there’s a stranger standing there

Suddenly you see defeat
As your hopes wash down the drain
The downward spiral is complete
When you recognize his pain

You want to hold him dearly
Just to take back all of the fights
And you mean it so sincerely
Because you want to make it right

The protection that you needed
Doesn’t matter any more
It’s time to face the demons
They lie just beyond the door

Then you go to face your issues
And he stares in disbelief
Because the memories of abuse
Has you both wrapped up in grief

Now it’s time to seek out healing
Time to truly love your friend
To say you’re sorry with true feeling
And hope that you can mend
