how do you know if your spouse is being truthful when he tells you that this is the last time an event (mental/physical abuse) will happen to you? It appears that we have alot of the same issues (problems) over and over............i'm so tired of it want happen again........so when do i believe him, well now he's wanting counseling (something i could never get him to do in the past)...........i'm really confused on what to do?

When you see his actions and his words coincide for about two years running, and he is following the POJA consistently. If you don't know what the POJA is, click onthe "Concepts" link at the top of this page, and read about the Policy of Joint Agreement.

I know that he really means it when he takes concrete steps to avoid the reoccurance of the behavior/situation.

aka: I won't lose my temper any more. I am taking anger management courses.
