H and I are separating - there is no legal separation in our state so we are able to maintain the same residence. We have a court date in a week with the judge for him to determine spousal support for me, then CS will be determined once spousal support is set (I was told CS is just plugging #'s into the computer but spousal support has to be done first b/c that is considered income for me). We both had to fill out paperwork regarding income and household bills, lifestyle, etc. Does anyone know what to expect in court? I am very nervous? What kinds of questions will the judge ask. I don't want to have to get into anything personal. Is spousal support a set % like CS, or is there anything I can say to increase it? Of course, that will then decrease my CS, so I guess it will wash out in the end. Any advice would be appreciated.

Laws vary by state.

In Minnesota, I get 39% of income for the 4 children plus spousal support which is dependent on his income, our expenditures, and potential income I could bring in. There is no formula for spousal support.

You could try to find a state-specific divorce book at your library or bookstore.
