The Anniversary
A gentle breeze is stirring as
The leaves start trembling,
Branches sway in the wind.
Bright skies darken and
The creatures take cover.
I build my shelter for
I can feel the pressure building
Through my veins, my belly,
My heart.
The storm rolls in
And I hang on with all I got.
Eyes squeezed shut,
Heart hammering and
Nausea building.
Hoping the storm won't destroy me
This time.
Finally, The winds die down and
The day is over.
I can breathe.
Again.
A gentle breeze is stirring as
The leaves start trembling,
Branches sway in the wind.
Bright skies darken and
The creatures take cover.
I build my shelter for
I can feel the pressure building
Through my veins, my belly,
My heart.
The storm rolls in
And I hang on with all I got.
Eyes squeezed shut,
Heart hammering and
Nausea building.
Hoping the storm won't destroy me
This time.
Finally, The winds die down and
The day is over.
I can breathe.
Again.
