My husband and I who have been together almost 8 yrs. have never got along. I think our personalities are so similar that we have a hard time diffusing the fighting and bickering. We have agreed that our daughter is keeping us together. I think we love eachother, but is that enough? We have tried counseling before, but it doesn't seem to help. How do you know when to call it quits? I am sooo sad and confused. I am worried what a divorce would do to our daughter. I need some advice...please help.

Hello,
Have you gone through the basic concepts on this site? http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi3000_intro.html
Hearing the previously recorded programs and concepts at the bottom of this page also helps: http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi4200_radio.html
I always am hopeful for marriages, love is enough to me...and in fact is a good foundation. It is all of that 'stuff' that comes after it that seems to be hard to maintain or juggle.
You are likely at a point where certain things do work and certain things you know absolutely cannot continue to work as they do.
When you 'fight' and 'bicker', is it over things you constantly seem to argue about that never seem to get more resolution?
How have you worked to resolve them in the past?
Name some specifics...that might be easier to tackle than an in general situation.
Have you considered reading Dr Harley's books or counseling with Dr Harley?
It's likely you could get a lot of info off the concepts site. Fill out that emotional needs questionairre too...that is a good starting place... http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi4501_enq.html
Hope this helps.
Y
