You guys are making me become a Reluctant self-appointed-Organizer! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> It's not in my nature, nor is it something I am very good at, but there's so many of us in Tex, with so many varying schedules and so many cities for each of us to come from that I guess I'll just throw out the date/places we have so far.

Looks like Austin won for a location, far and away, with over 10%. We're now welcoming any casual, kid-friendly ideas for an activity/restaraunt. In addition, if we want to get together later sans the kiddos, perhaps that can be arranged.

We're now going to poll for specific dates, based on when previous pollers said which weekends would be easiest to make (anything over 5%) and least intrusive to their prior plans (anything less than 2.4%).

I hope that makes sense; it does to me at the time, LOL! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Right now, based on when would be a preferred weekend (5.07%) and the fewest amount of people who will NOT be able to attend (1.02%), it looks like Dec. 10 & 11 is definitely a big contender.

Get your vote in, please, so we can make this a great get-together and have as many people as possible attend!

Barton Springs and Brakenridge park is LOVELY in October. Not too hot...NICE park...frisbee golf....loads of places to eat on Barton Springs Road.

My stomach would vote for Matt's El Rancho.....just not on a Longhorn gameday. El Arroyo (the ditch) is good too. Hut's Hamburgers is good (on 6th Street). For nighttime adult entertainment.....Esther's Follies (kinda like a Saturday Night Live comedy show).

There is about a 90% chance that I will be there no matter what date you choose. My only fear is that my company will schedule our quarterly meeting in Austin again on the previous or subsequent weekend, which would be a problemo for me. So, just count me in as a pretty sure bet no matter what date y'all pick and I'll fly over on SW and stay at my little sis's.

I should be able to make that date of oct 15/16 as well! I'm not familiar with any of the rest around there, so anything is good...not sure if I will be bringing kiddoes or not...depends on the weekend and if Ed has them or not and if divorce is final or not!

The weekend of the 15/16th is no good for me - DS's birthday is the 17th, so I will most likely have his party one of the two days that weekend - any chance we could find a different weekend?

OMG! Mel, when Ed was getting out of residency, he applied for a job out in Longview! That was my first choice over HERE...however, he did not want to live that far up in Texas! I liked that little town...It was very nice!

Yea, we were actually coming from MIDLAND...that is where he did his residency and I just fell in LOVE with all the TREES there! I was so used to tumbleweeds and bushes, that I was overwhelmed with the beauty of the GREEN trees and grass!

Hey, Mel - I was in Longview at the high school a couple of years ago for a contest with my kids. I adore the place. When you are on the 2nd floor, and you walk down the halls, one wall is glass. So it feels like you are walking through the tops of the trees. It is an incredibly beautiful thing.
Our school has virtually no windows at all. How stupid is that?

I will have to arrange for a substitute pianist for church on Sunday. So as soon as a decision is made, I'll know whether I can come or not.
