I thought Mel might post before she left for her hometown, but since she didn't, I'll post a little info.

Earlier, Mel posted her dad was ill.

He passed away on Friday very suddenly. She has gone across Texas to be with her family.

She said she was taking her laptop, so she'll probably be checking in.

I figured all of her online friends would want to be supporting her in prayer during this difficult time.

I hope you don't mind, Mel, but it wasn't going to take long before everyone started looking for you.

Hi Folks, thanks much for your prayers and your kind words. I am going to miss that old fart, but am very glad he got to die at home like he wanted. He has put me through he11 these past few weeks with his antics [running off the nurses, smoking with his oxygen on, complaints from the nursing agency that he was smoking marijuana] but now it's God's turn to put up with his foolishness. Good luck, God, you will need it! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I was thinking of getting my dad back now that I have him completely at my mercy. He hated suits and he hated religious zealots, so I thought about burying him in a blue polyester suit and asking Jerry Falwell to officiate his funeral. **snort**

thanks a-lot MEL

I did not realize your Daddy was Kinky Friedman's cousin ... that 'splains YOU
Posted By: MelodyLane Re: Melody Lane - 01/29/06 03:02 PM
Thanks, RiverTam.

Yes, there were several, 7 or 8. He was quite the ladies man. Even in his last years, he had a girlfriend, to our astonishment.[of course he is not that old, only 66] His current gf worked at our bank when I was a kid and has been chasing my father all these years. Well, she finally got him!

Think Kinky Freidman and add some craziness. Can you believe I come from that?? Most little girls went to the park with their daddies, we went to the bookies or the Top Hat bar!

How many ex's !!!!!! Amazing. When they are all together, perhaps you can ask each of them their favourite/worst memory of your dad. I'm sure they'd have some interesting tales to tell.
God bless, TT
