Well, I have told a few folks privately on here as we digested the news we got the middle of last week. Now that we have, I'd like to post here and let everyone know of the news:

Mrs. Mortarman is pregnant!

The timing goes back to the very first time we were together for SF in mid-January.

The few days following the news, we kinda just let it sink in. Mrs. MM talked about how she would have been 45 when our last child left the house...now it will be 55. And about her back problems from the car accident and how that will affect her during a pregnancy.

But, besides that...both of our reactions have been to pull even closer together. What we didnt know when we went to the MB weekend last week was that she was already pregnant (about two weeks pregnant). And that weekend sealed the deal for our recovery. And with this news...it is as if God just added the exclamation point!

As with all the people that know of our situation, there has always been concern if this is real (recovery). We have been at this since mid-November. And there has been no indication to me, to Steve Harley, or even Mrs. MM that this is not for real.

And now this!

We had always planned on 4 kids. The fourth was supposed to happen about the time I went to Bosnia and all this mess started. But with the financial issues...and then the big mess I came home to...that fourth child never happened. Well, it appears the Lord has decided that now that this recovery appears for real...that He is getting back to blessing this marriage and moving us forward.

So, the Mortarman story takes another turn. But so far, it has all been good. We have even some miraculous stuff going on with Mrs. MM's back in the least few weeks. when I first started seeing her again, she was severely drugged up and always in pain. Couldnt sleep for more than two hours at a time. The doctors had yet to be able to help.

Since we have been back together, small improvements started to come about. And then about the time of this new event (conception), her back started allowing her to sleep (I was now sleeping most nights next to her). Then, events before the MB weekend forced my wife to not have her medication for the flight out (she ran out and couldnt see the doctor until the Friday we were scheduled to be flying to San Francisco). So, we went out there fully expecting her to be overwhelmed with pain.

It never happened. Sure, she had some minor pain and discomfort. And she spent the entire flights and the conference leaning on me...but the extreme pain was gone. And all she ended up taking was stuff like Alleve.

This has continued since we returned. And it is good, because now that we know she is pregnant, she wont be ale to take that medication.

As some of you know, my church and many around me have been praying for the last few years for God to do "whatever it takes" to reach Mrs. MM. And many believed that this back injury and worsening pain was God trying to get her attention. As a consequence of her continued rebellion.

Well, she appears now to be the woman I used to know (no more alien). she is doing all of the right things. She is ready to return to church...to be a Godly wife. And with that, it does appear that God has begun to remove this snare from her. There is no other reason why her back has reached this point so quickly. As I said, she was near bed ridden when I first started seeing her again.

And now the pregnancy.

It appears God's timing is impeccable. If you told me 6 months ago I would be where I am, I would have laughed at you. The brilliance of Plan B was that while I was in darkness to what was going on with Mrs. MM, she was being personally ministered to by Him. He did what it took to get her attention. And once she called "uncle," it appears she is being made whole again.

Powerful stuff. Overwhelming.

OH MM I am very happy for you both. Doesn't God move in strange and wonderful ways?

My loving H & I had a new baby just over 18 months ago in just such a unplanned way too We had a night or two just before he was deployed again and I had no thoughts re pregnancy I just wanted to show him how much I loved him.
I just picture God having a big belly laugh at us thinking WE knew it all.

A gift and a new life to nurture wow! Prayers and happiness to you both.

Congratulations to you and Mrs. MM and your family!! I had both my boys after 36, and think I was a much better mother because of it.

Wonderful news!

May God continue to bless you and Mrs. MM in your recovery and in her pregnancy.

Your situation gives me hope for mine.

MM,

Congrats on your recovery and of course on the pregnancy. You continue to be a beacon of hope to many that real recovery can happen... and that sometimes it takes a long time and a lot of turns before you get there.

God Bless You,
Jilly

well, i do believe god does preform miracles. i do believe that if i had had even one ounce of fight still in me at the time i made wh leave, i do believe god could have eventually restored us. BUT, i did not want him back, i had no more fight left in me. none.

you always wanted your marriage and you put your marriage in god's hands. i am very happy for you. i opted for the way out god gave me... that i did not have to stay with someone who committed adultery, not just once but SEVERAL TIMES with several different women.

i am good with my decision and i am glad you are good with yours. my new relationship i put completely in god's hands and in doing so i know it will be built on a much better foundation than my marriage ever was.

having a baby is so awesome. i long to have another one someday myself. i don't care if i am 40 when that happens!i know i would have another.

very "cool"

(((((Mortarman)))))

The faithfulness of God. How does one know the mind of God?

I am so happy for you and Mrs. Mortarman that the faithfulness of God is being worked out in your lives in ways that draw you both closer to Him and to each other. I am reminded of David, of Sarah, of others whom God blessed with a child of promise as they surrendered their lives to Him.

May God continue to be the focus of your lives, of your repentance and forgiveness, of the rebuilding of your vessel of marriage in the loving hands of the Master Potter. May your children see the example you each set of the length and breadth and depth of God's forgiveness and loving care no matter what circumstances have battered your lives as you continue to trust in His promises.

God bless.

Amen.

Thanks to all of you. It will be tough, with my wife's medical situation (back). But I do believe God is going to bless all of this...as He has so far.

Hopefully this will give many of you a lift...as there were other stories here that helped keep me in the game.

We had another great session with Steve Harley yesterday and are moving full speed ahead. But if you had told me 6 months ago I would be together with Mrs. MM and us with a child on the way...I would want to check what you were smoking!
Posted By: ark^^ Re: Mortarman Update: Big News - 02/06/07 01:51 PM
It's crack mortarman...

we all smoke crack round here...

texan crack...(bigger better...)...
melodys the supplier...

obviously...

ARK.....
tell me you are NOT going to find out the sex...and be happily surprised!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted By: Mortarman Re: Mortarman Update: Big News - 02/06/07 02:03 PM
Ark,

I had heard that about Melody!

Not sure about the sex thing...that will be upto Mrs. MM. When she was pregnant with my daughter, I was the one who let the cat out of the bag...as I looked at the monitor during a checkup and noticed there was no stem on the apple!

Good catch on that one, FH!!! I have been operating solo for so long, that my training has been complete. I get on so many BSs on here to say "my" and "the family"... Of course, that doesnt work in recovery!!

Yes indeed...she is OUR daughter!

Wow, when God breathes life into dry bones...he really breathes LIFE!

This is an amazing testimony of God's faithfulness. What the enemy meant for complete and utter destruction, God has turned into a miracle with the ability to reach out and give hope to thousands.

God Bless you and your family.

MM,
As one here who reads often but posts only occasionally, I'm so amazed how your story and faith have borne fruit (God willing, literally in 9 or so months). This child, and of course your others, are meant for great things because of the trials your family has endured. God bless them and you for keeping a steady and faithful hand on the helm!

No Way,

I had to comment on what you wrote because this is a very good word picture of what I feel like right now.

It is like being at sea for a long time, through some massive hurricanes that very rarely let up. And all of a sudden one day, you wake up and go up on deck...and the sea is calm and the sun is out. And shortly thereafter, you see land.

And while exhausted from the trip...a sense of relief overcomes you, where you can finally just sit down and relax.

It reminds me of the disciples in the boat with Jesus. Here they had Him in the boat with them, but when the storm started, they began to panic. And Jesus was sleeping in the back of the boat. Men of little faith at the time.

Anyway...just some thoughts!

MM~

Though I don't believe I've ever posted to you, I have followed your story from time to time. When I was opening this thread I was hoping to hear you and your W were in recovery. WOW, am I behind the times around here!

I'm happy to hear you're not only on the recovery road, but will be adding another precious life to your family.

Tell your W there's lots of older moms of younger kids out there these days. And if it will make her feel better~~ I'll be nearly 60 when my youngest graduates HS. It's all good though, and I guarantee this child will be such a joy to you both. If my OC brought my H and me together, imagine what this joyous, wanted, and blessed event will do for you & your W!

Btw, you have a fabulous attitude.
