Ive read that most affairs do not last longer than two years. Is that two years from the time of exposure or two years from the start of the affair. Does anyone know?

puppy - after an effective exposure - scorched earth style - affairs sometimes last only about 2 more DAYS. (such was the case with my exposure experience - and I only contacted the OM's W) But the exposure must be well planned and executed. The other parties involved have a lot to do with it. If the OM/OW is married and their spouse is part of the exposure plan, that spouse can have a very detrimental effect on an A. In my case the OM's W took his phone away from him, on the same day they were travelling across the country to visit their kids and grandkids for two weeks.

If the OM/OW or your WS has nothing or little to lose from exposure, then it will not be as effective.

You do not warn about exposure. It just happens out of the blue.

How much have you read SAA? You need to know that book.

Without exposure the A can last a lot longer than 2 years. Darkness fosters the A. Light and exposure damage it.

I did a scortched earth exposure of my former wife's affair, stopping short of a billboard, her co-workers, her family, family friends, even his wife, co-workers, alerting his Alumni association, and it went on probably another 3 years after the exposure.

So who is to say how long they will last.

It's a closed book in my life, but there is your data point.

My H's affair ended the DAY I exposed it, but most affairs don't end that easily. I believe Dr Harley has said that most end within 2 years of exposure. That is just an average, though, and I wouldn't pin my hopes on an average.
