Marriage Builders
Four years ago, I planned a MB get together and five people came.

We billed it as a Marriage Builder's reunion because everyone there was from MB.

So, if I made plans for another on in Nashville, TN - where there are 3 major interstate highways and an airport - would you consider coming?

And when would be a good time for you?

I'm from TN and that would be totally fun! As far as a "good time for me" I Have NO idea because I travel for work. I would just need to have advance notice and put it on the calendar!

Wow. I remember when that happened, shortly after I started posting and I didn't feel like I knew anybody.

Hmm. If I came, could I be guaranteed that no pictures would get out? I've got my anonymity to preserve, after all...
We will allow you to come in costume so that, when the pictures are shared, no one will recognize you. Perhaps you could rent a SpongeBob Squarepants costume.

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
I was thinking more along the lines of Barney. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />
That's too funny.....see, my first thought was to say Barney but I wasn't sure if everyone would know who Barney is....

SpongeBob would be right at home in a hot tub - if it wasn't too hot. But he might soak up too much water.
I can tell you which house Tammy Wynette lived in though I don't know which man she was standing by when she lived there. Where Porter Waggoner lived, one of Hank Williams homes. I also could take you by houses of Bill Frist (well, reconstruction of the Frist compound)and Al Gore since that covers both parties. To a mall built on the site of numerous Confederate army redoubts and to a fort built by the Union Army. Not to mention one of the ugliest pieces of privately owned but publicly displayed pieces of art in the world.

The men in all their glory on Demonbreun around 17th St??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />
Nathan Bedford Forrest statue on Franklin Road
My daughter would nominate 'Musica' at the roundabout on Music Row. She and I both think it is ugly. We aren't offended by the naked people. We just think it's ugly.

Oh I agree, It's just hideous- not really offensive- just not what I'd choose in the roundabout! (Thanks for providing the correct wording for me!!)
And to think that the man who did Athena in the Parthenon did Musica. Whatever was he thinking and whatever was the committee that selected it thinking. As for General Forrest, well, some man paid for that or raised the funds and had it done based on his own whims. At least my tax dollars didn't go to pay for it though they did go to pay for clearing the trees that were around it. That was a pity. We needed the trees more than we needed that.

BTW, the Manuel exhibit at the Frist is AWESOME!
I'll come if I can. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> I've heard about the party, and was sorry I missed it. I remember looking at Vanderbilt U. but I didn't see much of the city.
Well, first we have to see if there is enough interest. There aren't many MBers in the area so dinner won't really do. You could do dinner if you have several within a 1-3 hour driving range but there are precious few of them here.

Therefore, almost everyone would have to travel a significant distance so we might as well make it a weekend.
Hey Jane-Elise,

I know G and I would love to. Does the hotel still have those gigantic flower pots outside so I can make her run into them again?

Only two things that are stopping us. The kids are both seeing an Orthodontist and Chels needs braces... $$$... G's X hasn't assisted up to this point and I only have one more kidney to sell.

AND dependent upon the time of year, the kids would have to come along. We are not sure if they are going to visit "Daddy" this summer.

Ian wants to take spring/summer hockey this year. Hum... let's see... I freeze my butt off every weekend in a skating rink playing step dad or head to the Jersey shore every other weekend. Tough decision.

Funny, I was just looking at the scrap book G made of the trip the other night.

Zippy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
There are a gazillion hotels at which we could stay. I invited the people on EN but they were offended by the hot tub thing. Thought they would all rush out and have EAs or worse. So, we may have to have some other kind of party if they come.

I don't know what their problems are and they really aren't my problem.

They have renovated that hotel so I don't know if they have the flower pots or not.

Time of year is open for discussion.

We aren't that far yet.

Sorry Chris,

5 is not good for us. Can we make it earlier?

Hey Jane-Elise!!!

One of the guys from my "car" forum is visiting and asked what he could do down in Nville. I told him all the cool stuff we did and saw. Ok, never mind, I thought it was cool....
Really, the most outstanding thing I have done lately is go to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and see both the Primitive American Art exhibit and the Manuel exhibit of 50 commissioned jackets. Both were totally awesome. The jackets are almost a social studies lesson about the US. Each jacket has several images related to the history and culture of the state. They are incredible.

There is a nice bowling alley near my house. Really nice.

There is so much to do here...and I know I haven't done most of it.

I don't usually eat dinner as early as 5. Chris, could you do 6:30.

Hey, for breakfast we could go stand in line at the Pancake Pantry. Garth Brooks goes there lots.
You should take them to Loveless, country ham, biscuits, homemade jam......

I'm getting homesick....hills........
I love hearing about my hometown <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
Loveless's changed hands not too long ago. Funny thing is - everyone loves the place but the only time I ever ate there, the ham was tough, the chicken greasy, the waitress surly and the ketchup spoiled. Not on my list of places to go.

Four years ago, we went to Sunset Grill, Finezza Tratoria, and Herbert's. But I think Herbert's closed last year. Bummer. My children loved it - called it 'Pig On The Roof'.
atl isn't far from nashville...hows about moving da party up to hotlanta?

I am sorry the en people are getting a little e on the whole thing. As for me, would love to see some of us, our friends, come down and see the sites, and do some fun stuff.

This summer, atl is opening up the huge aquarium downtown. Plus there's so much to do here...and it's easy to find an inexpensive hotel in the metro area. Lots of fun for kids to do here. Am offering up atl if you guys wanna come 1 weekend...when I am not wearing pager that is...
Why would the EN people get upset about a hottub? You would think that most of the BS' would??? That is just my opinion. Sorry don't want to offend anyone! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

I am right off of 57 and near 55. How close are you to there? I know 57 goes straight through Memphis.

I know a lot of people from the JFO forum as I was posting there for almost two years! Will I know others? I feel so lonely! Left out <img border="0" alt="[Teary]" title="" src="graemlins/teary.gif" /> wahhhh! OK kidding there!
I sure could us a vacation right now!

later,

Ali~
sorry "flood protection" posted twice! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Did you know that Tennessee is the 2nd state in the nation in terms of the number of equine animals. 4th for horses but 2nd for all equines if you include donkeys, horses, and mules.

And one of the strangest events I have ever seen at the State Fair was the donkeys competing in [censored] Jumping. They didn't actually jump over a raccoon. They jumped over an adjustable high jump. Can you imagine how many hours those people spent trying to teach those silly donkeys to go over that jump?

When my folkes were still up to making the trip to TX, they tried to be at home from Mule Day.
OK forget about Mule Day!

When's this party?

I can use a vacation and it sound like loads of fun!

Do they have beer down there or just whiskey <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

WIWH
We don't have a date. We were just kicking the idea around. I think I'll post a poll and see when we would get the best attendance.
Hey,

I remember when the first hot tub party was being planned... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />
Nick! How are you?????

I am so excited to see you!!!

Still biking around Virginia?

Listen, I have a small problem. You are in my address book but the address is OLD. And everything keeps bouncing. I sent you something tonight that has probably already come back. I would like to update my book - it's almost all oldtimers. Will you please email me at cinderella4mb@yahoo.com and I will send you the photograph. Really stunning.

I have been thinking about you.
Hi Jane-Elise...

I'm doing good. I got married 2 years ago to a wonderful lady and we're biking around Virginia.
(she only goes if it's above 6o) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

I e-mailed you my new addy...
Awesome news. How is Nicholas? I guess you don't have Scoots any more.
I think a hot tub party sounds great...it would be good to stretch the legs with some MBer's

I've only been here a year, does that mean I qualify?

or is that not long enough?
Almost anyone who has been here a while - long enough to have an interest in coming - would qualify. I think.
I'm thinking I'd be interested. I need a vacation ... I'd love to be included in the plans.

I've been to Nashville twice (singing) and Knoxville twice (on business)... hardly have gotten to see ANY of the sights - although we (my sisters and I) go to the Ernest Tubbs Record shop to sing on the radio show, and on one of the business trips, we went to Dollywood on the weekend. But not much else.

Early summer would be nice ... before it gets too hot. I know how hot it can get in Tennessee.

Oh - and I checked out a photo of the hideous statue. While it wasn't the same, I'm sure, as seeing it in real life, it's pretty dang hideous in the photo. And an article I read described it in a rather amusing manner! Take a look!
