We like going to a bookstore about once a month and hanging out in its cafe. We get about 20 magazines each covering all kinds of topics and speed read through them while drinking coffee. Sometimes we take breaks to discuss articles that give us ideas about financial planning, house improvements, cars, gadgets, etc.

It's tough to do this with a baby now, but if you can pass the baby to Grandma for the night it is cheap and relaxing!

Sounds like a great idea! We always like shopping at bookstores together, so we will have to try spending a little extra time and sit in the cafe together, I'm sure we would enjoy that. Thanks for sharing!

We have two Barnes and Noble stores within reasonable distance of our home. They *both* have live entertainment in their coffee shops from time to time. A calendar is printed on 8x11 sheet of paper and you can grab one at the information desk. They do blues, jazz, folk - usually a solo singer/guitarist or similar (the place is small). Check the info desk at your B&N and see if they do the same thing.
