Does anyone have experience with Microsoft LYNC? I see my husband's open when on his laptop at home. How does it work? What are the capabilities?

It is an instant message system. We message each other internally.

So can text messages be sent to a cell from it?

I don't see how. Ours is only for internal use. We can only IM fellow employees. My H has this at his compnay too and it is only for internal use.

Lync has web meetings capabilities and is widely used for concalls with screen sharing...

Oh ok, but still seems like an open invitation for secret communications. But I did see that everyone can see your posts, right? Or is there a way of communicating with just one person outside of a group?

No one can see my posts except the person I am IMing. WE don't use it for conferences at our company, only internal one on one communications.
