Punishing you will NEVER EVER achieve recovery for either of you, it will make a bad situation much worse and destroy your marriage. What your wife is doing is abuse, plain and simple, and you should not tolerate it. When you reward her destructive behavior, you encourage her to behave badly at the expense of your marriage.

Which is poor advice because empathy does not recover marriages. The therapist has no idea how to save a marriage. As you can see. In order to recover, you and your wife need to follow a PLAN that will recover your marriage. You haven't even begun.

Punishment is the antithesis of recovery.
