It begins so subtly.

A faint glow of a yesterday.

A distant memory that sparks a warm smile.

Then, like catching the pleasing aroma of a neighborhood cookout,

The scent brings an awakening of hunger pains that lie deep within the heart.

It transcends just normal images of the past.

It is a living dream that stirs the soul.

You can reach out and immerse yourself in this unfolding drama.

An array of hues, sounds, and physical sensations pierce your being as if you are living it all over again.

Time stops and you are paralyzed; transfixed in this suspended state.

Some might petition you to ‘pinch them’ with the hope of being awakened from this dream.

But I want no part of that awakening.
