All:

I've read a bunch of books in the process of personal healing besided the Harley's gems.

There's a few that stand out for me that have really helped and I wish to share them with you and hope you can do the same with those that have impacted you. I'll list my books below and explain how they've helped me and hope some of you may get something out of it.

I hope to come back to MB in a big way in the near future, but pending litigation makes posting on here a little dicey.

Here's the books that have really helped me:

#1: Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl - No other book has impacted me more than this one. I read it while in a hospital, coping with the grief I felt over the loss of my marriage, separation from my kids, unemployment, and separation from family. It's Mr Frankl's own story of survival in a concentration camp and the psychology philosophy he developed from that experience. His book is short, but it is golden wisdom in every page and it is one of the few books that I've read that has prompted me to find a highlighter.

#2: Crazy Time: I forget the author, but it covers the crazy time period and behavior after a divorce. It helps you see that you're normal for feeling how you feel.

#3: The Co-Parenting Survival Guide: Letting Go of Conflict after a Difficult Divorce - This is my current one. I'm only a few chapters into it but it is a very accurate reflection of the situation I'm in right now with my ex. The biggest thing I've read in there so far has been [color:"red"]"Children need and have a right to the love of boht parents....Children inevitably remain as the last connection between you and your ex. Even though the marriage is over, your relationship continues as parents who share in the lives of your children." [/color]

It's been tough putting that last book down so far, especially in the midst of my current legal battles. I want to buy a copy for my ex and hope she would read it with me while we worked with a counselor.

Here's to wishful thinking.

These are my top books. I've read a few others which are mostly for entertainment, but these have impacted me personally.

She moved away with the kids April 08. I contested it and got a lot more time with my kids. She's unhappy that I want to stay involved in their lives and don't settle for being an "every other weekend" dad.

Never going to happen.

"It's Not About Me" by Max Lucado

It's Not About Me

Book Description
Pop culture and psychobabble tell us to make ourselves the center of the universe in order to be happy. Churches have communicated the false idea that God exists to give us all that we selfishly want. In this book, Max Lucado reminds us that it's not about us, it's all about God. It is through this shift in thinking that we can truly live an unburdened, happy life.
