They don't want to be burdened with the mundane objects of their former life, or anything that reminds them of it.....I still have a wedding dress hanging in my closet, photos, all kinds of other "stuff" cluttering up my house.

I'm sure each has their own reason, but you can be sure it's either the above, or laziness, or bet-hedging, or any of the other suggestions.....

The greater question is "what do you do with all of that crap?

I gave DS dibs on all the leftover clothing and the rest I donated. I also pitched a bunch of stuff. Some of the stuff I kept (power tools etc.) and I even kept his house coat (wear it when I colour my hair - why wreck mine!).

The other funny thing is that he immediately had his mail forwarded to his new address. This meant that my mail was also forwarded for a while which I finally got him to fix but he insisted that "I" couldn't be trusted to give him his mail. The 6 months is up so now I'm getting his mail again and guess what, he hasn't changed his address on half of his stuff AND he doesn't even seem to care if or how quickly I pass it on to him.
