Hi everyone,

I'm looking for possibly anyone in the same experience as me. I'm tall and skinny, in shape as a runner. My wife is heavily into weightlifting and bodybuilder. She's short and very built. I'd like to talk to any guy who have the same experience or situation.

The awkwardness it creates in public. At times when I see her lifting more than I can, I get very jealous.

My husband doesn't lift weights with me and I suspect this might be the reason. It doesn't bother him because he doesn't lift weights with me.

My solution to that has been to get more competitive with my wife. Last year when I saw she could leg press me I upped my weight and got a little more aggressive with my program. And then I decided I wasn't comfortable with her having stronger abs than me, so I upped the weight on the exercise we were doing for that, too. smile

Men typically have more testosterone than women, which gives them quite a bit more potential to become stronger than women. There are exceptions, but unless your wife is on steroids or you have a hormonal issue, you can probably beat her if you apply yourself, and you will probably both think it is fun.

So go lift. It's not going to diminish your aerobic capacity. Anaerobic exercise at the very least does not diminish your aerobic capacity and often will improve it.

All around fitness will include a range of aerobic and anaerobic exercises. Weightlifting may be a good addition to the running you already do.

Nothing wrong with improving your phosphagen and glycolytic abilities with some weight training.

Another thing you guys might do is build a home gym where you can work out together in private.

IC,

Does she most hang out with other bodybuilders in a circle that excludes you? Or the all consuming passion that some of the lifters pursue the sport?

God Bless

From what I'm reading is you're insecure because you feel she's physically stronger than you are. And it seems that you're a bit jealous that you wish you had this strength.

This is a pretty easy solution. Go lift weights. I'd be glad to give you some tips in starting out and progressing if you want to take this to the off topic area.
