About a year and a half ago my M was in shambles due to A's that both my H and I were in. We decided to reconcile and make our M work and have been in recovery for almost a year now.
What we are facing now is behavior problems from both of our children. More specifically our 7 year old son. He has been acting out in school, he won't listen to us. He has no care for consequences. I was about to pull my hair out.
Finally after all this time I took a fourth trip to the library and found the most wonderful book "How to Behave So Your Children Will, Too!" by Sal Severe, Ph.D.
The back cover has this test to see if you need the book:
1. Are you tired of repeating everything four times to get your child to listen?
2. Do you get an argument everytime you ask your children to do something?
3. Do you give into your children to stop the whining?
4. Do you say "stop that" more than six times a day?
5. Does your babysitter give you a discount for coming home early?
6. Do your children spend hours in front of the TV and only minutes doing homework?
7. Do you ever feel guilty or embarrassed because your children won't behave?
8. Do you and your spouse argue about discipline?
9. When you punnish your children, do you feel punished yourself?
10. Are you looking forward to sending your children away to college?
I can't tell you how much difference this book has made. I haven't even had to raise my voice in over a week!(and that in definitely an accomplishment in our household )
I just wanted to pass this information on to any of you parents who might be going through the same things. It has helped us so much, I hope it can help someone else out there too.

My H has been gone for 4 days now and won't be home for 4 more...One child has been home with the chicken pox and I haven't left the house for more than carting the older to dance, sunday school and the like. I am about to pull my LAST hair out as my oldest is 7 and sounds like she is doing the same things as your son...but not acting out in school (which leads me to beieve that it is something to do with me ) I'm going to look at this book on Amazon.com TONITE! NGU...
