I've been on Paxil since the end of May, 2000. Initially was on 10mg, then 20mg. Was on 20mg until November. Went to 30mg for 2 weeks, then 40mg.
Initially, I lost weight while on it, but was that just because the situation with H's A was new, I'm wondering? Lots of factors that could be playing a role in it, but I've started gaining weight since November---that's when I stopped breastfeeding, went back on the pill, and doubled my dose of Paxil. It wasn't too bad at first, but now it seems to really be coming back quickly. This is a huge issue for me (and my H), and I need to get it back under control!!!
Of course, maybe it's because I sit in front of this da** computer all day long.....

I lost weight at first while on Paxil as well. Like you, I don't know if it was the Paxil or just plain anxiety diet. I started working out about the same time. I've gained a little weight back, but have remained pretty stable. Try getting out and walking, etc. I hate having to fight weight!!!!!!

Ladies - I'm on zoloft, but lost a lot of weight before getting on it. I think the infidelity diet is what you and I experienced at first. As we got better control of our depression, that's when the weight started coming back and I think weight gain is a potential side effect.
Hurtinginil, maybe it's time to ramp off the paxil?
Dave

Thanks Janie and Dave!
Janie---doesn't it bite to have to constantly fight weight gain! I'm only 28, and am not looking forward to it the rest of my life. I got rid of all of my fat clothes last year, so I have to either buy bigger clothes again, or work harder. I refuse to buy bigger clothes, so that doesn't leave me any options. I will stay in a size 8/10 if it da** near kills me!
Dave---actually I've been thinking of going off of Paxil anyway. My H has a problem with it (says I'm on "drugs"), too, so maybe it would be the best all around if I go off. It makes me tired, too, so I'd probably have more energy to work out along with not having the weight gain side effect. I'm just afraid I'll turn into a lunatic again, since the issues in our marriage are not really resolved, and the OW is still somewhat in the picture. Guess I'll have to talk to the doc.....

I don't know about losing weight, but two of my friends both gained a considerable amount of weight while on Paxil - my friend Jane, who has the most sickening metabolism in the world (she only has to think about losing weight to lose weight), gained 25 pounds while on Paxil!
Now that I am without child, the Carolina Belle Fad Diet of the Month is Body For Life. This one doesn't have any catches that I can see though, except having to stick with going to the gym ***shudder***. And there are tons upon tons of success stories in his book and on this website, so why not?
Anyway, I'll get off of my diet soapbox. E-mail me an update when you get a chance!

hurtinginil - I'm too thinking of going of my Zoloft. I can't stay awake. All I want to do is go to bed (careful ladies). I'd bet you're ready, too (to come off paxil, not necessarily go to bed).
Dave

Hi CB...I'll be updating you as soon as a have a few free minutes. Kind of crazy around here. I wanted to give you some time to take care of yourself and not worry about my problematic life.....
Dave, I have decided to go off of Paxil. I think I'm at a stage where I need to be able to be emotionally stable on my own, or my marriage won't ever survive. H sure likes it that I'm ready to go to bed at any hour of the day, but sure doesn't that I fall asleep immediately ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)

I have a question about Paxil. I started taking it 2 weeks ago (10mg first week then to 20mg). I am also getting tired alot.
My ? is about sex. I haven't lost alot of drive, but I am not able to reach the big "O". I have NEVER had a problem with this before. I still enjoy it, but I am sooooooooooo frustrated. Is this because of the med?
Also, I am getting alot more migraines, is this from meds or something else?

If weight gain is a problem, you might want to ask your doc about wellbutrin. Problem is, like others here, I can't yet seperate the infidelity effects from the antidepressant effects! I just started wellbutrin about 2 weeks before D-Day, so who knows? But from my readings on the web, a lot of people on wellbutrin actually experience weight loss! I know I have, but I'm sure the infidelity diet has a lot to do with it--i'm naturally thin, and through all barfing (has barfing become a lifestyle for anybody else since discovering the A?)and lack of eating since D-Day, i'm getting really skinny. I haven't eaten a meal in over 24 hours! I don't feel hungry! Ack! But not every day is like this--just going thru a low time right now.
