My youngest, Melissa (13), took off last Tuesday, the 14th.
I haven’t heard from her since.

A mother of a friend of hers (whom I never heard of before) called me two nights ago.
Her daughter took off Monday last week.
She had been calling around and someone told her my daughter was with her.
She heard they are taking off to Florida this Friday. We are in Colorado.
She didn’t take any money or clothes when she left so???

As much as I can figure, she is still around in the area.

I did file a runaway report with the police and also with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (www.ncmec.org).

Anyway, I could use some prayers for me & Melissa.

I'm so sorry Chris. I can't imagine how you're feeling.

Lord, please keep the girls under your watchful eye and protection and guide them safely home. Give Chris and everyone else concerned comfort until then. Thank you Lord for your grace, mercy and steadfast love for them. Thank you Father, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Hope she calls you soon.

I went to a friends house (an hour away) for Christmas. She called me about 2 hours after I got there.

We went to my SILs house for a visit. My daughter called her mom while there.
Her mom told her, "your dad is very strict" because I would not let her go over to her boyfriends house.

His brother, his sister and his sisters friend were arrested (at different times) for drugs at the house.
The father just got his license back after a DUI.
The mother died of an OD while driving 6-8 years ago.
The police & the prinicipal told me that his house, "is not an approriate place" for her to be due to the numerous police calls there.

Is this being "very strict" or simply using common sense?

Anyhoo, we have an appt for a evaluation by the school district and will get in to some type of counseling

It is common sense. Can't see why her mom wouldn't think so too.

You just hang in there. Never give up on her. She's learning about love from you. She just doesn't know it yet.

What about inviting the BF over to your house? That way you may have an influence over him? It also gets him out of that environment and into a better one. Just a thought. You would know better if it's a good idea or not.

Glad to hear she's been in touch and sounds like she's safe (sort of).

Bless you.

After rereading my post, I guess I was not clear.

She did come home.
She is at my SILs house (my decision) until the initial counseling session. I didn't want her here alone & unsupervised while I am at work. Her bf lives the next block over and it's Christmas break.

Me & SIL get along great so no worries there.

Thank God she is safe. I pray the counseling will be a help.

Chris,

Having just gone through this myself, I understand completely how awful it is to have one of your children runaway. I'm so thankful to hear that she is at your SIL's and basically safe. Thank you God!

I realize this may be mildly unusual, but would you be willing to send an email to the addy in my signature? I am also in CO, and being as we are almost neighbors, may have some excellent referrals for ya in the area of counseling, school-based counseling, free counseling, and other resources (that's kind of my gig). If you are absolutely uncomfortable, I suppose I could share everything here on-site...it's a public site though.

Well, anyways, you and Melissa are most definitely in my thoughts and prayers.
