I am interested in figuring out the right answer to a game. The game is called, "the name in your pocket" The idea is that we are all in the world and we meet many people - do we go after the name we put in our pocket, or do we react, settle when someone else has our name in their pocket. There are many reasons why saying yes to someone makes sense. But isn't it worth it to go for the situation where both parties have each others names in thei pockets? I look back on my relationship with my wife and I think that I did not have her name in my pocket. Ughh
[ November 02, 2001: Message edited by: joeandjen ]

I have also thought about the "mate choosing" game, and I have come to the conclusion that we are forced to do it much to early in life. What we may want and look for in our 20's is much different than what we want in our 30's and 40's. I would really like to know who thought 20 year olds were mature and intelligent enough to make such a big decision. I know I would have been better informed and much happier if I was just starting the dating game now instead of 10 years ago.

It's like expecting a high school student to know what they want to do when they grow up. How can any 17 year old to select a college based on career expectations for the next 10 years - much less the next 40-50 years?

just a thought!
you are all right first of all....20 is MUCH too young to be ready to make life choices except for a very few cases
i am just 40 and FINALLY know what is right for me but now im really pushing the child bearing years theory so how do you win?
i think 20 or so is when child bearing is best so it might be genetics that pushes us into choosing the wrong mate just to procreate?

then sadly we are locked into a bad relationship "for the kids" UGH
i personally think it sucks and its too bad society looks down on the people who seek happiness after a disaterous marriage when it involves kids...the kids suffer bad marriages as well
society should be supportive of being happy..and this site is very religiously based so this wont be popular but god dosent change your life for you only YOU can!
he put us here to take care of our own problems not to beg for answers
he is a support / belief system he / she i should say, and dosent get involved in worldly matters !
he/ she did their work life on earth is ours to make
so ask all you want but its all up to each person to make changes
