Dear all,
My pastors said that in heaven, there are no marriages, we are all worshiping God and there is no need for that. In cases where there are people with two of more spouses (widowhood and remarriage or divorce and remarriage), there will be no confusion at all. There are no 'claims' to the spouse because there is no need for such relationships, we are so much fulfilled being in God's house.
Can you help me with more of such information, please? Thank you.
God bless you
weep

Weep,
I don't have alot of time this am to address your question, but yes, what your Pastor said is true. The only scripture reference I am aware of is Matthew 22:30, "For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven". The footnote states that angels have no need to produce offspring, that of course of one of the reasons God institued marriage.
We will be the bride of Christ, the church described as all who receive Christ as Savior and Lord, are the bride.
We will know and recognize our earthly family in heaven and they will be important to us, but the state of marriage is unnecessary.
There is a great book on the subject of Heaven,it is called "One Minute After You Die" by Edwin W. Lutzer. It answered so many questions for me about heaven and my loved ones.
God Bless,
Taj
------------------
"Perfect love casts out fear" I John 4:18
