I guess mentally, I'm already there.

Finishing up the packing, reggae is playing, just gotta cut the grass again before we go.

My wonderful girlfriend of seven months and I head off to the islands in the morning (4/17) with 22 other friends - my first real, adults only vacation since, well, since before my son was born.

Jimmy Buffett says it's a lot more fun spending colorful money with pictures of flowers and palm trees on it than money with old green men.

Why do I mention all of this? Because it symbolizes for me that my recovery is just about complete and if I can do it, any of you can, too.

So, I won't be around for awhile - assuming I come back at all!

Warmly,

Good for you WAT - I hope you have a wonderful break and enjoy the "GUs only" party (that's Grown Ups only!).

What is interesting is that you talk about recovery - this is something that struck me recently that someone said on another thread. Recovery is sometimes an individual issue, and I wish you well with your continued recovery.

WAT:

"Jimmy Buffett says it's a lot more fun spending colorful money with pictures of flowers and palm trees on it than money with old green men."

Leon Russel also comes to mind! (Only you'll have your "love" with you this time!!!)

Back To The Island

Now the day is gone
and I'll sit alone and think of you girl
what can I do without you in my life

I guess that our guessing games just had to end that way
the hardest one to lose of all the games we played
But the time is passed for living in a dream world
And I include myself, can't make that scene

The wondering if you love me
or just making a fool of me
Well I hope you understand
that I just had to go back to the island

And watch the sun go down
Listen to the sea roll in
Well I'll be thinking of you
And how it might have been
Hear the night birds cry
And watch the sunset die
Well I hope you understand
I just had to go back to the island

Well all the fun is back
It's raining in my heart
I know down in my soul
I'm really going to miss you
But it has to end this way
with all the games we play Well I hope you understand
I just had to go back to the island

Ah yes, and the founder of the Church of Buffett (Orthodox) says that "If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane." and

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Fruitcakes in the kitchen
Fruitcakes on the street
Struttin' naked through the cross walk
In the middle of the week

Half baked cookies in the oven
Half baked people on the bus
There's a little bit of fruitcake left in everyone of us
Paradise - Lost and found
Paradise - take a look around

I was out in California
Where I hear they have it all
They got riots, fires and mud slides
They got sushi in the mall
Water bars and Brontosaurs
Chinese modern lust
Shake and bake life with the quake
The secret's in the crust

Chorus

We lost our Martian rocket ship
The high paid spokesman said
Looks like that silly rocket ship
Has lost it's cone-shaped head
We spent ninety jillion dollars
Tryin' to get a look at Mars
I hear universal laughter
Ringing out among the stars
Fruitcakes in the galaxy
Fruitcakes on the Earth
Struting naked towards eternity
We've been that way since birth

Half baked cookies in the oven
Half baked people on the bus
There's a little bit of fruitcake left in everyone of us

[snip]

Tell me what's goin on, I ain't got a clue

Here come the big ones - Relationships -
We all got 'em, we all want 'em. What do we do with'em? </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Fruitcakes Jimmy Buffett, Amy Lee

So WAT, have a very fruitful day from one Parrothead to another. Keeping a sense of humor throughout all the relationship mess can certainly help.

MJ:

Well, to get WAY off topic here!... ...in defense of Mars exploration (boy, is that way enough??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> )

Or exploration, curiousity, imagination, and dreams in general, I found this obscure song I've been looking for for a LONG time on the internet, written by a late acquaintance of mine:

"Words and Music, Jonathan Eberhart ©1980
Also ©2003 Wood Song Ventures

Lament for a Red Planet

Ten thousand times a hundred thousand dusty years ago,
Where now extends the Plain of Gold did once my river flow.
It stroked the stones and spoke in tongues and splashed against my face,
Till ages rolled - the sun shone cold on this unholy place.

So many stars bedeck my skies where once there were but few,
But oh, to know again the clouds that hid them from my view.
My ochred cliffs and rusted sands stand regal and serene,
But oh, my wan and wasted world, I miss your blue and green.

But it's just the weight of waiting, not a deathwatch o'er a friend;
Tomorrow has a starting as does yesterday an end.
For the water of my river and the air that was my wind,
Though bound in rocks and wint'ry wastes, I pray may flow again."

Thanks all for the well wishes - including Q's interplanetary tangent - always an appropriate topic for folks surrounded by alien abductees.

I neglected to thank this forum as a whole for making my recovery possible. I could not have done it without you. Meeting my new sweetheart has sealed the deal - she's a breath of fresh air, the icing on the cake. Now, as long as she doesn't out fish me..........

See you next month!
