When I voted for PRESIDENT Bush, I was thinking of the defense of this nation. I was thinking about the duplicity of liberal kook politicians and the way liberal politicians undermine the war effort with their un-American statements and how invested in defeat liberals are. And I was thinking of the alternative; a traitor who met with communists in France while the Vietnam was going on, a coward whose claim to fame was shooting a Vietnamese teenager in the back, and an elitist who couldn't decide from one day to the next what his position was on any given topic.

Guess what? The economy is booming. Unemployment is down to it's lowest level in a generation. The only negativity is in your mind.

If you want to inject politics onto this board, and I recommend against doing that, you need to educate yourself before you try it. Your ignorance is showing.

Seriously, I think Dubya believes he is doing the right things. Much of America appears to agree. I don't happen to be one of them, but I respect our process. I had my one vote.

I was thinking of marriages being dissolved by liberal judges seated by democrats and republicans alike - liberal judges who are unraveling the definition of family.

I was thinking about electing a man who stood on principle, not on public opinion polls.

I was wishing that more of the population could see past the propoganda produced by the liberal media, and ask a soldier what it was really like to serve in Iraq - what the people of Iraq really feel about this country...

I was thinking of the pervasiveness that evil has taken root in our culture - of the shaming behavior of liberal voters who don't understand that infidelity is connected to the neutralization of moral code - by the ACLU and the liberal politicians who support that dissolution of morality.

Definitely I was thinking! What were you doing?

So let me ask...would you vote for a man of principle even if those principles were very different from your own?

I can respect a man of principle. I do respect Dubya. I don't necessarily agree with his policies.

sorry octy..gotta disagree on that issue....

Clinton in my opinion damaged many many more marriages with his blatant finger waving lies...

and his redefinition of sexual encounters to exclude oral activity has brought great damage to the younger generation who really have convinced themselves that IT is not IT...

and that six years later we are still suffering the fallout of that onto this generation and marriages

This "absurd war" started with terrorist killing 3,000 Americans. Exactly how have you forgotten that? Oh, you've bought into the idiocy Iraq wasn't supporting terrorism. Guess what? THEY WERE and now we've liberated 25 MILLION human beings from a crazy man. Are you aware they have found HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of bodies in mass graves in Iraq that Saddam had killed. (Contrast that to ZERO mass graves in Kososvo, and only 3,000 dead male muslims of military age.)

Un-American means copying Muslim terrorist propoganda and repeating it ad naseum. Un-American means doing and saying things against our nation when what you say is bull. If the shoe fits, wear it.

How curious. You criticize President Bush for misspeaking. You can't dispute him on his integrity and ideals. You are critical of the most trivial of things. You're all about show. President Bush is about substance. Doesn't your concentration on trivialites concern you in the slightest? Call 1-800-Waaaaaanh to see if anyone cares about them.

The ALLEGATIONS of wrong-doing have not been proven and will not be. The charges are being brought by liberal prosecutors. Did you know, btw, the liberal leader in the Senate, Senator Reid, is one of 3 individuals in the glare of the spotlight because of funds he took from Abrahmov? There's a criminal investigation under way targeting him and two others.

Again, your ignorance is showing. I suggest you not post until you educate yourself. You're embarrasing yourself.

By the way, I spent 26 years in uniform making sure you have the right to be ignorant. What did you do to earn that right?

your opinion to call people ignorant has no business on this board..

so what if she he or it is ignorant....

do you really think that being derogatory is going to help anyone HEAR your opinions...

I'm passionate about America also...so what...
I can even be passionate without attacking someone personally

this board only is made up of OPINIONS...that's all it is...
but it is not your board...it belongs to the Harleys...and we are guests here...

and calling people names never never never serves this board well.....

especially when a huge premise is ALL ABOUT LEARNING TO COMMUNICATE WITHOUT JUDGEMENTAL DISRESPECT....

it should be modeled
it should sought after..

the ability to communicate
the ablility to be able to agree to disagree..
etc etc etc..

Ark - with all due respect, this thread started with a violation of TOS - disrespect.

OG, As passionate as you are about your beliefs and feelings, they are no more passionate than mine.

I had to discontinue contact with a long time friend, who insisted on sending me hateful anti-Bush stuff, while she stood for an anti-pornography group - the incongruency was glaring - the hatred and disrespect was beyond anything I could tolerate, and when I asked her to stop sending me anything political so that we could work on issues for which she disagreed, I received a rabidly hateful response. I asked her to lose my e-mail address at that point, because I would be blocking any further attempts to communicate with me on ANY issue.

There are many things I find that Bush-haters are not open to hearing. For one thing, anything good about the man, and what he has done for the economy after terrorists struck at the heart of the economy...

The man has a heart of gold - and I never knew it until we were under attack. He deserves our respect. He deserves that from all of us. Including you. As much as you hate him.

October, we can agree to disagree. If you think what you've said is "tongue in cheek," I think you need to get a new perspective on that concept.

Ark, you're okay with her calling the President all kinds of disrespectful things, making derogatory remarks about him and the nation, but you get mad at ME for calling her on it? Pardner, you're applying a real double standard there.

And I am VERY judgmental, Ark, but excuse me, "ignorant" and "embarrassing" aren't four-letter words. I have no expectation of October ever changing her mind but I will not allow such statements as she made to stand unchallenged. Why should I have to? Just where is your sense of fairness, Ark?

LH...what ark is suggesting is that you learn to differentiate between refuting a concept or assertion without launching into disrespect of the person who puts forth the concept or assertion. You have done this on other threads as well.

If you believe a statement to be uninformed, the respectful tact is to try and address in what way...not call the poster "ignorant".

Again, as ark said, this site is all about learning to communicate with someone you don't agree with without destroying their relationship with you.

You appear to be a bright and passionate man. Don't force people to put you on "ignore".

I don't think President Bush is the cause of the downward spiral of our country. I believe it takes more than one person to do that. I think it started long before he became President and I believe it is do to the moral decline of our people and the acceptance of doing wrong being ok to justify the means. Our values have declined over many years.

I believe it is the ones who say it doesn't matter what we do morally as a people that have turned this country on the downward spiral.

I also have to ask people who complain what have they done to turn things around? OG this isn't directed at you but at people in general. What are they willing to sacrifice to make this a better place. I know what our military people and their families sacrifice in order to preserve our freedoms? Are others willing to sacrifice their life so the person next to you can say whatever they want no matter what. I hear what teachers tell students in class on ways of avoiding selective service, getting out of jury duty, and how our military is just made up of people brainwashing young guys to make them killing machines. But yet these teachers would not sacrifice their comfort to help others in trouble.

I believe unless we are all contributing in some way to making this a better place than we are all just as guilty as anyone else in the downward spiral of this nation.

Isn't that what Dr. Phil says?

That's what I thought of when I read it..

Of course, I didn't need to consider an answer since I did not vote for George Bush.

I do believe in voting because it is a right that has been provided to us as American citizens.

However, I'm not that PASSIONATE about politics...

I'm one of the ones who votes based on how a candidate comes across to me...

I do question his level of intelligence and also his integrity..

He just doesn't seem to sincerely care IMHO..especially about the poor and downtrodden people in America...

This was validated for me in his response to Katrina in New Orleans...

I have tried to sense the sincerity and integrity that others speak of but I can't pick up on it....

Just a statistic:

Pearl Harbor Dec, 7 1941. 2400 Americans dead

Sept. 19, 2001 attacks. 2996 reported dead or missing.

WWII 408,306 Americans dead

Iraq 2,229 Americans dead As of 1-23-06

I have spoken to about a dozen military men that have seen action in Fallujah, Bagdad and Tikrit. When I asked them about what was happening in Iraq, they told me,that what they have personally seen and what they have read and seen in the media are very different. It makes many of them angry that the media misses so much of what is going on over there.

I asked them because they are the ones that have the most to lose and have first hand knowledge.

Just thought it might be worth sharing.

You are not jesting about your hatred towards Bush, which is why your comment "what were you thinking" is so offensive.

I've been as guilty as anyone else starting OT threads over the past 5 1/2 years here. My defense is that all of them, I think, have been generically humorous (or intended to be). No politics, no religion > the stuff of controversy on a forum. It'll bring out the worst in people.

I suggest that we try to keep this forum neutral of polarizing topics - we all know what they are. Heck, we've got enough "crap" to deal with here with infidelity!

This IS an infidelity forum. Infidelity cuts across ALL societal stratifications, all international boundaries, all beliefs. It is thusly a common ailment, one that ALL can help deal with - no matter how screwed up your politics or religion is.

But, I WAS ignorant about that, Low. So what? I also don't really care about those bowls, but that's beside the point. I often ask people out here to educate me. No big deal.

Can’t you see you're criticizing me on the appearance of my words, not the substance? Can’t you see how wrong that is? Her words were prettied up, in the style you like, but they were no less inflammatory. What you’re saying, in effect, is you can be as vicious as you want as long as you use the words you feel are “nice” words. I’m saying that’s not true. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree again.

No, no...I'm not. What I'm saying is that we can communicate without attacking each other's ancestry if we so choose. They don't have to be nice words.

Attack the IDEA and not the person who is stating it. Things like telling a person they are "ignorant" does carry the connotation of "stupid" despite the lack of technical equivalency.

For example, saying "That's the dumbest thing I've heard today!" may be harsh, but is very different from saying "It's dumb liberals like you that cause our problems." I know you see the difference...you're a smart man (I mean that sincerely)

Do not look for ways to discredit the idea's proponent so much as the idea itself. It reflects poorly on you because it is a schoolyard bully tactic. We're older than that, and hopefully we've outgrown that propensity.
