Anyone been in a Quiznos Sub Shop lately?

The first thing you see when you walk in is a big sign that reads "Having An Affair? Let us cater your next party."

I'll be darned. The reminders are everywhere!

What poor taste. But I guess they will use whatever sells in today's culture.

I agree with you that that is a cheesy advertising ploy. Whoever thought that one up is a moron. But then again, most advertising slogans are moronic.

You can bet that someday, the idiot who sold that idea to Quiznos will be the victim of an affair, either by having one or his partner will have one. Maybe then he'll see the error of his ways.

Until then, I'll boycott Quiznos for you!

Well, their food is really unhealthy anyway. Really good, but have you seen the fat and calorie content of the average sub there?

OMG, I can feel my thighs growing!!!
Posted By: MelodyLane Re: Quiznos--Having an Affair? - 08/28/07 04:33 PM
And they have sugar in all their sauces!! UGH!
Posted By: rltraveled Re: Quiznos--Having an Affair? - 08/28/07 04:33 PM
thanks, chris. I won't be going to a Quizno's for awhile, I think.

Who, yeah, I think I gain weight just smelling the food in there. I'm doing Weight Watchers right now. I really just need to lost 10 or 15 lbs. I'm just under 5 feet tall, so 10 lbs is a lot for me. It just doesn't want to come OFF!!

On top of this, I just started Chantix yesterday to quit smoking. I haven't had a cigarette since last night, but it's really not bothering me too much at the moment.

Oh, the struggles in life. I have too many vices!!

good luck on quitting smoking, rltraveled!!

thanks, Melody.

I'm 46 and had never smoked a day in my life until I entered AffairLand. It was when husband starting wigging out and I didn't know what was wrong. I was SOOOOO stressed, I finally lit up one day. That was almost 2 years ago, and I have been smoking like a FIEND ever since. I feel terrible about it because I used to be the Anti Smoking Nazi. If I smelled smoke on my teenage boys, I had a FIT. When I started smoking, we all sat around and smoked together. And in front of my 13 year old daughter!

What a bad mom am I.

I feel awful about it, but am DETERMINED to QUIT!!

ba,

Well I know that, for Heaven's sake. I know that the word "affair" has several meanings.

But don't think for one second that who ever came up with that slogan didn't think he was being a clever little f***.

It's what the slogan CONNOTES that is offensive, not its literal meaning. DUH!!!

As I said...some triggers are self inflicted. You are choosing to be offended by reading something into the slogan that does not exist nor was intended to imply.

Oh come on, who the h3ll uses the word "affair" to talk about a gathering or party? Let's not be hoity toity here.

Ask anyone you know if they have heard about "John Doe's" affair, and 9 out of 10 people are going to think extramarital, even if they haven't been either a BS or WS.

I don't trigger over such Bull poop any more, but stand by the opinion that it was and still is a misguided advertising strategy.

I bet it won't be used for long.

I gotto go, Skirmisher and I are busy planning a Soirée! <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

ba,

When Herbal Shampoos had their commercials on with people taking a shower oohing and ahhing and making "sex noises" to sell their shampoo, were they not making suggestions about SEX? Or how about, It's All About the O, for Overstock.com?

Come on, Ba. You know dam well their intent was to make you think about affairs, and not catering.
Posted By: ba109 Re: Quiznos--Having an Affair? - 08/28/07 05:26 PM
I gotta take my hoity toity butt back to work and there just happens to be a Quiznos across the street. Go figure. I gotta see this. There have got to be scores of peeps eating subs with their pinkies raised high.

Oh my goodness. IAD. I think that would make me want to throw up if I were you.

Sorry ...

As sensitive as I am...."Having an Affair" would be taken as that.

Of course I really wouldnt think they would be so cruel to mean cheating....dumb not to have caught something like that, insensitive. Its like the word "retarded" like "that OW is retarded" some just throw it around, but have enough since not to use it on a buildboard or national television or for marketing.
