Ah, yup, it is the day.

Funny how these day's are not as exciting as they used to be.

Thanks for the song!

So, Have a question since this has been brought to attention.
My daughters were very excited that I open my gift from them.
I opened my cards from them, [one hand made [love it!] other bought]with a $20. I read my cards, gave hugs, then picked up the 20, only to find more than 1, there were 5.
Seems x asked girls what I wanted and oldest told him I have been looking at leather jackets. He said he wanted to give me a portion towards it.

You must know, while married he was NOT a gift giver. Since D, his limit is $30 on B-day & Christmas [reasonable and fine].

So, this blew me away.[not to mention that this is a secret from wife] I'm pondering whether to give some back. The flip side is how will it make my girls feel since it's their gift to me.

any thoughts??

Happy Birthday.
I think there's likely some guilt going on from him.
Use the money to purchase the intended gift. Have the girls go out with you to help you pick out the item.

I told my girls I wanted a fleece robe (thinking they'd use gift cards when they were shopping with me). Instead, they showed Dad a $149 robe I liked and he didn't purchase it, and they were upset.

Happy Birthday Karona!

I'd say buy yourself the leather jacket. I like newly's suggestion to take the girls to help you pick it out. XH is a grown-up and he gave the money freely so there's no need to give it back. Interesting though.

Maybe it's not only guilt but (finally) recognizing your value. You are a really good person and it's about time he recognized and acknowledged it!

I agree with the others!!! Of course I don't have kids, but I'm trying to think of my sister's situation. I'm wondering if it's a possibility that your girls asked him to do it. And again, it's good that for whatever reason, he was big enough to do it, and I think it's a good example for the girls.

Happy Birthday K! Thirty Something - right!!!

And if you feel bad enough about the $$ from X - you could always buy me the leather-jacket!!!

Happy birthday, I had no idea! Enjoy your day!

As for the money, very interesting. Since however you will never know his true intentions take the money and your girls and go get yourself the jacket!

Enjoy, you deserve it!

Take care and God bless!

Thanks everyone!!

Newly~~
You have good taste! Wonder why he wouldn't get you the robe? I bet your girls didn't understand.
I think there is some guilt shining thru on x's side. There was a $$ incident that came up not very long ago. He came out on the + side and I think he knows some wrong there.

LT~~
I would indeed have my girls help with this pick.
And thank you for the generous/sweet statement!

Faith~~
There is no telling what my darlings could have said to their father. They claim they said nothing of the sort, but they are my greatest fans, so who's to say?!

FR~~
Ahh, 30's, however I think a '4' slipped in there somewhere.

Still~~
Thanks! It is very interesting to say the least.

Well, I think I have decided. I will write and let him know the gift was very generous, unexpected, and thank you.
A friend that I have much respect for and who I think is very ethical told me, use a portion that you would typically use, and the remainder for an outing with my girls. I think that seems most wise!

If life's problems were always so simple right?

Thanks again,
Karona

Thanks girls!

I did thank him, and he wished me a happy one.
I will never figure him out, but then again, I have quit trying some time ago.
