I've been spending lots of time over on the GQ11 so I'm hoping I didn't miss something but wasn't Oct. a trip to Paris?

I'm so hoping something unfortunate didn't happen.

Oh, boy. I'll tell.

Later. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Is there a face for a smug smirk?

“We’ll always have Paris.” A classic line. I’m hoping I’ll do a little better than Ilsa and Rick. After all, I don’t have a husband that could rise from the dead to wreck my romance. Although… I’m not sure ex’s can’t create trouble in their worn right.

So, Paris. Paris is a wonderful city. I liked it much more than I expected to. It’s a veritable feast for the eyes. Everywhere your eye alights, there’s something to delight it.

But that’s not what you girls want to know about, is it? Hmm? You want the salacious bits.

First off, contrary to what the romantics amongst us had thought possible, M did not propose atop the Eiffel Tower. Since we’re both uncomfortable with heights, we waved at E.T. from afar.

Now that you know what the ending isn’t, let me tell you all about it.

We met at the airport. I got there early because I’m used to Philadelphia. When you’re from the greater metropolitan Philadelphia region, you learn to plan for traffic disasters. I95 is clogged day and night, if it’s not construction crews taking breaks, it’s a gapor delay as motorists watch the crew in a rare moment of activity. If it’s not an overturned tractor trailer that’s spilled Campbell’s soup all over the highway, it’s an airport shuttle bus that’s aflame. And then, there’s the never ending tire fire under the bridge.

So, I allowed 80 minutes for a 20-minute journey. The benefit was not stress and I ate a reasonable meal at a chic-chic restaurant in the overseas terminal. Then I met M at the “blue bar.” I was assured that even without the name, I’d be able to recognize it because it was all blue. It was delightfully cozy and empty. And M. was sitting waiting for me while he participated in a teleconference for work. That was fun for me. I got to see him work. As I expected, he saves his no-nonsense direct approach for work. I also got to try and distract him just a little.

In Paris, M basically set the agenda with my adding in one or two elements, often making sure we did a couple of things he had mentioned he wanted to do. We went to the Pompano Center which has modern art. I’m not talking Mattaise (sp) here. I’m talking garbage painted green and spread out on the floor. We left rather quickly.

There were long walks all over, some times holding hands, other times me trotting behind to keep up with his long legs. M would try to slow down, and I would try to speed up. We had lovely dinners. Delightful. We sat around and talked and sat around and didn’t’ talk. We picked out places where we’d get an apartment if we won the lottery, and then laughed because neither of us play.

It was all incredibly normal and incredibly boring to anyone but the two people there together. If one or two other things happened that were extra especial, you’ll forgive me for keeping them locked in my memory, unexposed to the world.

So glad to hear you had a nice trip GG. Was it romantic too? No need to spill any details.

You make it all sound so exciting GG, as I'm sure it was. Even the unmentionables.

Thank you for sharing your trip with us!
I think I can see the "glow" thru the screen.

Well, for the rest of us sitting home in America and thinking of internet dates, it sounds wonderful to have someone special to share a vacation in a beautiful city.

Don't downplay it. I'm hoping it was absolutely wonderful.
Are you already planning your next vacation together?
