My wife called me today in tears. Apparently her father has been diagnosed with cancer.

We have been separated now for about 5 months and she moved away to be closer to the OM.

She sounds miserable on the phone, weather is cold there, job is terrible, now her father has cancer.

I'm trying to be strong for her and be a beacon of hope. I explained that the prognosis is likely good and kept an upbeat attitude about his condition. I told her that she is welcome to come home and that my door is open to her.

Her only reply was "what would that look like?"
I said "i don't know".

Mag,

I don't know what is going on but I would tell you one thing.

It doesn't sound all that bad. Maybe she is coming out of the fog a little.

You may want to figure this part out though.

It would look like this:
NC with OM
MC for both of us.
Open and honest communicaiton.
Fill in the rest that you would like.

Let her know your expectations first. Remember to be loving and open with her when you lay them out. Try not to be punitive. Use your MB principles for recovering after an A.
