here's some hints on erasing your history:
Internet Explorer: go to Tools,Internet Options,Clear History. This will clear the pull down Address History in your Tool Bar. You can also choose to keep your Pages History low if you want.
You will also need to delete your History from your Windows directory, in Win95/98 it is:
C:\WINDOWS\History
Just delete the directories inside the History folder (don't delete the actual History folder), it will show "Today" for today. The number of days it keeps adding to the History folder is dependent on the Page History you choose in Internet Explorer. Don't worry, it will recreate itself. If you don't use IE as a default browser, you can still make those changes for the Page History because the Windows Operating System looks at that value.
Just some hints, its a good way to snoop too

That's a trick that my spouse used, unfortunately, when he looked at porn.
I could care less if he reads what I write, either. It's just that when he does (he doesn't but very rarely, he has a hard time facing the truth) he becomes angry because I am "telling the whole world his secrets" and that will jeopardize his clearance at work. That sucks, huh? Maybe he shouldn't have had an internet affair that became a real-time sexual affair, knowing the position he was in. Maybe he should have just divorced me first, if I was really that bad, knowing the position he's in. . .
You shouldn't have to erase the history on your PC. It could, in fact, be very helpful in bringing all your troubles to light so that they can be solved. . .

The main reason I would erase history ( and the sent items folder) is so My kids and their friends don't read the posts. My BIL also defragments and cleans up our computer when he visits, he doesn't need to read this either.
Sometimes it't not spouses that shouldn't see it.

Forgiver
I downloaded Netscape and I use it exclusively for the forum. It has an easy way to erase both the history and the address bar, so I do that after every use. My wife is completely PC illiterate, she couldn't find her way through email accounts even with logons and passwords, and I am VERY SERIOUS, it's not an exaggeration! I am more concerned about the children and visitors going to the MB site or any other forum I have visited. They don't need to know.
Also, as far as sharing MB with my W and letting her read my threads, NO WAY! This is MY private venting and advise seeking tool. One of the probelms that she and I have in communicating is that she has counter-arguments to everything I have to say, so I always feel as though I don't have the right to speak my mind, expecially if I have a criticism or complaint.
This is my sacred ground. She sought sex outside our M, I am only seeking knowledge, understanding, support, and advise. Hmmm, does this mean I am having an EA with MB?? Good question! Maybe, just maybe, someday, I will let her in on what helped me so much to get through this, but until that day, it's my domain only. How do others feel about this?
[ May 08, 2002: Message edited by: Blind Sided ]

I don't get not wanting your spouse to read what you write here. It has been a helpful tool for my H and I...discussing what we read and write here. We found that sometimes we say somethng better here than we would talking to one another. MB has really open up avenues of discussion for us sometimes.
I can understand not wanting others (children, visitors, co-workers) to see where you have been and what you have written. But not your spouse. Not being open and honest with one another is what got most of us into this situation in the first place.

If you want to eliminate the History of internet surfing in Internet Explorer (IE), go to "tools", "Internet Options", click on the "General" tab, and the third option from the top is "History". Just set it to Days to keep History "0" (zero).
Also, in the same "General" tab, the middle option is "Temporary Internet Files". If you want to limit the amount of info stored there, slide the slider all the way to the left, giving it the minimum disk space to use for this purpose.
[ May 08, 2002: Message edited by: Spacecase ]

I'm with Blindsided. This is MY place. My H would just rant & rave about me telling everybody our business & say that its all one sided against him. He already yells at me that I told ALL our friends (didn't) about him having affair when he did no such thing; and that THEY all took my side against him (well, duh!). Two friends know & their husbands are his friends. Oops.
He would not be interested in the principles cause he stubbornly says there's nothing wrong with him & counseling is only all about money GRRR. No wonder my hair is getting grey! I installed something called internet cleanup on my computer. I originally did it to keep my daughter from seeing the porn my H was viewing by accident. Every time we close Explorer, it erases the history. It has been good for keeping my machine cleaned up, because it also removes the temp files. There is some other stuff it does/can do, that I can't recall off the top of my head.
