He didn't have a gun. He showed up unarmed, apparently assuming the OM would do exactly as he did: kill him and claim self defense. That way the OM gets arrested and tried for murder, and the dead BH, who felt he had nothing to lose, gets the last laugh. Did you notice how ballistic the wife got when her husband publicly exposed her affair? I'd swear the scriptwriters included Dr. Harley. Someone back then must have understood the dynamics of an affair very well. This is not the only Hitchcock Presents we've seen that includes an affair and seems to march straight down the Marriage Builders wayward playbook. It's amazing. I'll try to round up some more at some point and post them as well.

Oh my goodness!!!! Watch this one, and you will not be able to believe that Dr. Harley wasn't watching it when he transcribed the wayward script and coined the term "the fog." I mean, the fog is presented literally.
