OK, I have San Francisco envy. They're always getting together and doing stuff, and leaving the rest of us out of it, the boogers. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

So... anyone in the DC area wanna get together for, uhm, something fun? Say sometime in mid-January?

Hey -
I live in Washington too !

No, wait, my Washington is not DC.

Sorry, wrong party.

Let me know when, and I'll try and send some electrons your way.

It is fun to meet with other MB'ers. My W and I have met a few and had dinner (or lunch) with them, sometimes I wish I lived closer to a major population center - but then, that would probably add to my 5 minute commute time, so maybe not.

Hope it works for you - and this is a bump too !

Yes,
But I don't live in the state of WA, I live in a small town in the west called Washington. So, you are in the state of WA, right?

JJ - the SF folks are just following the DC lead. I organized a DC MB get-together in June '01 LONG before they got started. We had a two day event including tootrusting (drove up from Tennessee), SKM (local), Just Learning (visiting from out west), and myself (local). Met at the Dave & Busters at White Flint on Saturday and at some TexMex joint (with terrific bird bath Maragritas) on Sunday. We were planning on another before 9/11 took place and cancelled - since several folks were gonna fly in.

WAT speaks the truth, I was even contemplating flying there, all the way from the Pac NW. If only to try out the olives D.C. is famous for. lol

WAT, I live about 5 miles from White Flint Mall. Sounds like you and I should get coffee someday, even if no one else comes along!

DC is famous for olives, huh? I never knew! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

JJ - olives? I didn't know that. And here I thought DC was famous for Cherry Blossoms and politics. But there's a lot about olives - and DC - that I don't know. Like, what does it mean when the olives are "thrown"? Why do folks around here root for the Redskins?

word origins:

politics - "poli", meaning "many" + "tics", meaning "bloodsuckers."

Anyway, sure, perhaps we should organize another get-together. But from the responses to this message, maybe nobody else is close?

Jo - howzit?

Yeah, it does sound like there's no one else who's close, though I do know one other person in the area who's using the MB principles. She doesn't post here much, though.

And if I remember right, Mortarman is in NoVA, but I don't know whether he's reading these days or not.

I really haven't a clue about the olives; that's Resilient's deal and I still wanna know what she meant! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

And yes, there are many, many tics in the deep woods of DC. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Hi Just J,

I'm in DC/NoVA as well. I guess she probably talked about the Olives Restaurant in DC (McPherson Square?). It's supposed to be pretty good, however I haven't tried it yet.

All righto! People are starting to come out of the woodwork! That's great. Now we just have to plan a time and place. With folks from NoVA, MD, and DC, it's going to be hard to find something central. How about somewhere close to a Metro stop so everyone can get there one way or another? And how expensive is The Olives? Would it work for this? I've never been there.

There is a possibility that I will be in the DC area in the middle part of January. It would be great fun to see Dave again and to meet the rest of you.

Olives is pretty expensive. It's a rather intimate, romantic restaurant. However, it is close to the Metro (Orange Line - McPherson Square).

Intimate and romantic???? Uh, probably not wise for a bunch of MBers! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

Besides which, there's a good chance I'll have DD with me. At 1, she's not good for restaurants like that.

So, anyone have any other ideas? And JL, do you know specific dates yet?
