Dear RH and friends,
Thanks soooo much for all your care. My mom is in the hospital and now needs to have a triple bypass surgery. This is complicated because she is also a dialysis patient and advanced in years. Diabetes takes a huge toll on the body and she is quite frail. I see a similar pattern between my mom and grandmother. As the oldest daughter, I feel highly responsible. Let's add to the fact that my only sister has totally ignored my parents for over a dozen + years. Angry? You bet I am but right now it is all about my mom and her well being. So I am working with my parents, doctors, hospital, social/case workers and relatives (very helpful aunts, uncles and cousins), to make sure all the options for my mom's current and future care are properly explored. Hopefully this will give my dad the best support.
Along with the support of family and friends here, you all at MB have been of great encouragement. I am typing this on my cousin's computer, so I can't bawl all over her keyboard.
Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. H & son are here and lending there support to me also.
It c/b a while before I post back but I think of you all everyday. For those of you who are in a crisis of your own, I want to specially thank you for your posts and prayers. I want you all to know that your extra efforts are greatly appreciated.
Mahalo, L.

Haven't been on GQII for a few days, and just saw this.
It's hard, Orchid, I know. What a treasure you are, and what a gift to your Mom, to have you beside her.

Orchid -
I first posted my story in Nov of '01 on the 'Other Topics' board. I was not used to asking for help, but had found Marriage Builders from a Yahoo search. You were the first to respond to my thread and offered support, kindness, and a perspective into my W's mind at the time.
You helped me a great deal when I needed it most. A simple 'thank you' does not begin to show how grateful I am...
My prayers are with you and your family, and...
Thank You!!!!
Gib

Thank you for all your support. Mom had her open heart surgery last Wednesday. It was a double bypass. She had several 'risks' against her but she pulled through ok. Even had the chest tubes removed on Saturday. She was cracking jokes as she was being wheeled into the operating room. Is she a trooper or what?
ICU kept her less than 2 days. Even her doctor was amazed at how quickly she made it on her own. No drugs, not even pain meds after being released from ICU. I was able to spend several nights there in her room.
Her blood count went down to 6.1 (stable is 12). That was on Friday. Saturday she was up to 6.4 and by Monday 7.0. We flew out on Sunday and her progress seemed to be doing fine. She has 5 specialists on her case..... dumb doctors - they released her to go home with her blood count only at 7. Now I am no medical expert but that seemed tooo soon. Originally they said Wednesday giving her 7 full days of hospital care. Even that seemed too early for me. Mom is 70 and on dialysis.
Guess what, mom was home less than 12 hours when dad had to call the ambulance and they sent her back to the hospital. Arrrgh I am now quite angry and on a warpath. I have already placed calls to the primary physican coordinating all her care. Tomorrow I will be calling the others.
Don't even tell me it was in anyone's interest to send her home sooo early. Insurance didn't save $$, caused more work for everyone and jeporadized my mom's recovery. I am MAD .
Anyway, we are back and trying to get back into the routine. Haven't been here too much, just posted a little.
Thanks again for all your support. I certainly felt it.

orchid - Well the worst part is over. And I agree with you, sometime trying to save money is the worst thing. Of course your mom needed more care. But I am thankful things came out so well.

Orchid, thinking of you and prayed for you all the time. Please take care of yourself too. The most important is that your mom is recovering now. GOD bless you and your family.

Dear believer and Lnh,
Hugz to both of you. Your concern over my issues during your personal time of pain is commendable and greatly appreciated.
I just spoke with my mom. Her spirits were up. Her doctor said tests are being done to find that bugger of an infection. I hate that they want to keep pouring on the antibiotics. At least we now know her body is not storing too much iron (a whole 'nuther story ).
They will keep her in the hospital until they can identify and setup the proper treatment. I can't tell when they are BSing or telling the truth and it aggravates me. Ok, gotta be patient and it's just not one of my virtures - even after all I have been through..... geeze
Again, thanks for the support. It is truly appreciated.
