ooh, I have an Alabama story too. OW is from Alabama. Last year, before any problems were even known to me really (although we had an issue w/ me feeling he was too close to OW), he had, what else, "training" in Mobile. It just happened to be smack dab in the middle of Mardi Gras...He calls me and says, "guess what I was out in the street checking out the parade and all of a sudden I feel some beads hit me in the head and hear someone calling my name. I look up, and above me in the balcony is OW!" What a coincidence!! Then he went out with her and her friend on the boat for the evening. Hmmm...I have always wondered if it was really true that sometimes the CG has you buy your own airplane ticket with your personal credit card and then reimburse you...

HiHow fellow "Hurricane Watchers",
Just wanted to check in and add a few more names of Tampa Bay Area MB's...
runningwithscissors, SerendipiT, FLman and I also live in the area (hope everyone's all hunkered down safe). I'm with TJ re. the get together, we'll have to see what venues are still standing after Ivan departs, and then make some plans. Maybe invite some of our Central and South Florida MBers for one big bash!

great, Ron..that *is* quite a few of us
faithhopelove, about the credit card thing. Yes, memembers are supposed to have a gov credit card (my husband does). It is ONLY supposed to be used when they're travelling on orders or pcs..something for goverment. It certainly *can* be used at other times, but it's not allowed and they can get in trouble. HOnestly..if you think your h has used his cc for things other than travel...But at any rate, they use credit card...once the government gets around to it, the reimburse member for travel expenses and then the member pays the credit card company. Member does receive a bill when the credit card is used and member is responsible for paying on the card with the money the government reimbursed. faithhopelove..did you not have access to bank accounts and such?
No, I chose not to expose. There is ONE circumstance in which I would, but I don't foresee having to do that. Plus, exposure would've hurt him too and I am 99.9% unwilling to affect his career.

Maddy, He did have a government card, but he didn't use it - he used our personal credit card.
Yeah, people have said stuff to me about "oh you should notify his chain of command, etc" I'm like, sure, just what I need, to ruin his career - that just means less security for my kids, less child support, etc. Forget it.

Faith, Maddy was correct...Normally children under 10 aren't issued ID cards but the Pass and ID can make exceptions if certain conditions are met. One of which is.. The child does not reside in the household of an eligible adult family member. Take a look at this reg.... AFI 36-3026 ID cards All the services use this reg. They call it different things but it's the same info. edited to add.... Maddy is correct about the Gov't Card also. It's not mandatory but it is "highly encouraged" that you use the card during official travel. Hope everyone is doing well God Bless Doug [ September 11, 2004, 08:20 AM: Message edited by: d_rose ]

Hi...another Floridian here! Praying for you all!! I am in Central...but have family in the panhandle, and even some in the "armpit" - those folks need a lot of prayer, because as has already been said, they don't have a lot to begin with!! I've heard it said the more you have to loose, the more you loose, but for many of those folks, it'd be everything! Again, prayers for you all, through the literal hurricane, and the storms we're all experiencing personally!

Another Floridan here--N.E., about 2 hours from Cedar Key, so if Ivan hits in there (as they are predicting) we'll get the worst of the winds-- coming up the eastern side of the hurricane--
Which will also bring up the creeks and rivers in the area--bringing massive flooding--in an already flooded area--and I guess I'll just have lake front property at that point--and will be able to fish out in my front yard--I'll just have to keep an eye out for the gators as they go in search of higher ground as well--
Maybe God's way of providing me with lake front property??? Nah, I don't need lake front property THAT badly--
