I have been reading and reading and have no idea who dubbed it this way, (or would otherwise give credit) but am wondering if anyone else has completely lost their appetite and joy for food?
As someone who's fought a minor (10-20lbs) weight battle for most of my life, it's really strange to be looking for ways to PUT BACK ON some weight!
I'm thinking that maybe with so much of my life flying out of control, maybe I'm 'controlling' my eating? Or is it just the distraction of so much else going on?
Any thoughts?

You'll find it's common to lose weight. I lost about 30 lbs. in less than a month. I haven’t weighed that little since college. I called it my "Body for Wife" diet.
I wasn't sleeping, was running off adrenaline and had no appetite to speak of. I'm sure it's the same story for most of the walking wounded around here.

I too lost about 50+ pounds in about a three month time. i could not eat or sleep, I was barely getting by, all I did was chase after the kids and work, and never took any time for myself. Now here I am 10 months into supposid recovery and have gained back 15# which I am not thrilled about, but I was have more energy again, I think my body just needed it. I think it is a way to cope and that it has a added bonus of having your WS do a double take. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> At least that is how it worked for me. My FWH gave me a hug and said whoa where did my wife go. I went from 185# (just had a baby) down to 130, a size 12-14 to a size 6-8, I was seriously cut in half.
Just do not let it get too far out of control!

19 lbs in the first month for me. Normally a good thing but not when you are pregnant.

Well, I gained about 40 lbs starting with his breaking my arm, which was 4 1/2 months before D-day.
The good news is that I've lost 10 of them. I think food was my A-D.

I lost almost 70 lbs from May - August. I had a baby in Jan. and had not lost too much of the weight I had gained, so it was nice...at the beginning.
I wasn't able to eat and would get sick everytime I did for most of that time.
I like the new body, but it's a horrible way to go about it.

i basically lost 38lbs in 2 months. losing 9lb in one week at one point. i just didn't have the appetite, i've lost a total of 48 lbs. still have about 15-20lbs to go (to get to my IBW) but the loss definitely help me get some of my self-esteem back, i even feel comfortable in a pair of jeans. the title the infidelity diet is just termed that way because more than likely if it hadn't been for our spouses having an A we wouldn't have lost the weight we have. i'm not saying that's the case for everyone but i think the majority.
if your concerned you need to see a doctor.

Kloe- bless your heart - do watch out for the baby! remember that during pregnancy, everything you take in is halved w/ baby.
during nursing, milk production is first and your body needs 2nd.
Hard enough, just being pregnant and going thru this too.
My heart goes out to you!

I like the cheerful way we all see that 'silver lining' to it, after all we've been through!
And my oh my, don't we have some very clever writers out there!
Cherished, so sorry about the broken arm and so happy about the loss of the 10!
I lost 8lbs the first week after dday. Went from a 10 to a 4 since then. Now am thinking VERY SERIOUSLY about refilling the 'deflated' areas with some appealling, artificially enhanced augmentation!

I lost about 10-15 lbs...got to under 100, which is NOT a good thing!
It was a combination of things, really. I've never had much of an appetite, though I do like food. I had more of a routine while we were living together so I more or less scheduled my meals.
But now I have only my son to cook for and I don't like the same foods he does. I'm just more picky than he is, and he's GOT to eat healthier than me so I end up cooking for him then forget about cooking for myself. Yes, you heard that right, I FORGET to eat.
But I got really scared a few weeks back. My hair had been falling out, which I had just attributed to change in water/weather, stress, etc. But then I also started getting more grey hair (no one turns grey early in my family). I also started getting dry, scaley patches, like eczema under my eyes.
Well, folks..that is a sign of malnutrition and that really freaked me out so I'm doing much better now. I have not gained back any weight, but I AM eating what I need to--healthy foods full of protein. I also make sure that when I eat out, I eat a lot.

I also lost a lot of weight....I'm in a 4 now. Still losing and hoping I don't get too skinny. I like where I am now. It's hard to eat. I have to force myself to eat something everyday. My stomach is in knots most of the time.

I weighed 178 on d-day, now 3 months later, I'm 118! I used to eat for comfort, now I have to make myself eat. I love wearing size 3's, but I hate hearing I need to gain some weight. One friend said, "women as thin as you are either on drugs or going through a divorce" so I stopped wearing my wedding rings.
Pardon me for being gross, but I think the biggest culprit is loose BMs caused by nerves. One of the signs of emotional stability I'm looking forward to having is a solid bm.
But it sure has been wonderful to hear my wh say "You look great! Independence has been a real tonic for you!"

ha ha ha ha! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
yep. I've kept my true sitch secret at work - used the stress of a miscreant teen to explain - but have had many people conjecture "I wonder if she's getting divorced?"
Strange, how others see so much more than we think they do, huh?
Maybe I'm a bad actor, too!

Yep! 45 pounds and counting!
My D-Day was during my pregnancy, and I ended up only gaining 11 pounds during the pregnancy. I literally canNOT eat sometimes. I lived on shakes of Ensure/fruit/yogurt for weeks.
I'm breastfeeding now, so I am trying to eat. I find myself eating what the kids eat, not too exciting. I used to love to cook, but now it's a chore. Going out to eat is out of the question when my 3-year-old is factored in!
Loose poops are the norm, too. It sucks!
On the other hand, Fogman looks like he's getting a beer belly! Yuck! He actually has the nerve to complain about my new-baby stretch marks. F@#$ you, Fogman!

Was near 200lbs around Christmas, I finally realized that I was losing drastic amounts of weight after WW moved out in Jan. Hopped on the scale and was under 180. I'm now down to 160, and in frighteningly good shape.
I've learned to eat and exercise properly, two things that were lacking from my life prior to this, although I'd always played sports.
I went from an uncomfortable 34 waist to a 30 (with room.) My shirt size went from an XL to a M, (S sometimes!).
I run distance now. My last 5K was Saturday. I finished in 22 minutes flat.
The last time I saw WW in September: "Hey, where's the rest of you?"
She's not the only one that's noticed. My friends ask for exercise tips, and eating/grocery buying advice.
I'm very conscious of what I eat daily, and what certain foods will do to/for my body.
In all honesty, I'm not sure I would have been motivated/had time to do this at some other time in my life.
I am THANKFUL for this part of this hellacious experience, and I still tell people to this day, that I would probably make this trade again. (I think)

Both myself and my BS/WW lost alot of weight in the month following D-Day in particular, but since my W was already wanting to lose some (we've been been low-carb/no-sugar for 1.5 years and it feels GREAT!) she didn't mind.
But...I was the cook in the house, so now that we're separated she's eating like crap and spending too much money to do it. <sigh> Makes me want to go over there and cook her meals for her still....
Me, however...I'd better put back on a few or my MIL and W are going to shove a Big Mac or two or seven down my throat. Either that or I have to go clothes shopping again because my pants don't fit. I was already right at my ideal weight of 150 lbs. and 5'10" now I'm down to 145. yeesh.
Now that things are "improving" (aka "settling into a constant pain rather than a rollercoaster"), we should be OK.

restart,
I went from 195 to 145 in about 3 months on the M & M diet (Marlboros & Maxwell house). 145 was way to skinny for some one almost 6'2". I couldn't blink without getting winded. I have found my spot at 180 now.
I think it's that whole fight or flight thing. You're running on emotions and adrenaline right now. Eventually this will all level out. Make your self eat a couple times a day. An energy bar or some fruit. At worst a large(Venti) carmel macciotto at starbucks has over 400 calories. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
