Kimmy,
How the heck do you make soap?
You gimme that recipe right now!
Is it the one that Naomi Judd uses which keeps her and DD's skin looking so good?

I buy 100% glycerin, and add all natural ingredients for scents. I make a peppermint one that's a great scap/foot treatment. Oatmeal almond, Oh and a coffee one made with coffee grounds and vanilla - it's da bomb for getting out onion or garlic smells while you are cooking. There's one made with lemongrass that makes your skin really smooth....I have all different molds, too. I think I'm gonna make some for kids this year with like army men or other monitos in them. Rosemary is invigorating - specially in an aeromatic bath. Oh, and nothing beats lavendar soap to make you feel girly. I've even got a sandlewood scent that most men really dig.
The thing about my soaps is that because they don't have any "hardners" in them, they melt away quickly....but they don't leave that squidgy feeling you get from more commercial varieties.
I also make bath salts using some of the same ingredients as above. VERY easy to make!

Are the scents like the lemongrass pure essence oils? Do you order off of the internet, or buy in health food store?

Yes, either one. I usually go to World Market or Sun Harvest and sniff till all the scents run together....... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Oh and if you're using herbs like rosemary and such, buy frest and chop the hell out of it in your food processor (your kitchen will smell nummers, and you'll begin to crave rosemary chicken, but still)....

NOW then.....I was thinking of buying my FWW a special small gift to have waiting for her in our apartment in the Keys when we arrive at Christmas.
It never occurred to me that you folk might be so crafty ! Could any of you make me something for her that you could post to our holiday apartment ?
Hmm..I wonder what though - she doesn't use soap ( baby lotion on cotton wool, NEVER soap!) LOVES baths but not in Fla when we can swim in our warm pool !...any suggestions you CLEVER folks ?

how about some sachets? She could put them in her undie drawer and in the pillow cases. And some stuff to burn, like in aroma therapy. You can use pure essence oils in an aromatherapy lamp like a combo of lemon/lavender and it will knock you socks off. The smell is that good.
Kimmy is the crafty one, she'll have to do this for you. I just decided to learn.
Or if not, I hope someone else jumps on here that does this kind of thing for gifts.
How nice for your wife Bob!

Sachets are a lovely idea. Some people make scented candles. I've made scented bath salts - which are fun. Personalized items are nice too- with a monogram, a message or whatever- on towels, clothes or other "soft" items.
Bob- you are a sweetheart!

There's a real idea hatching now.....
We LOVE scented candles but customes officers took offence last time we tried to bring some home (d'oh - the ARE forbidden item on planes thorugh Miami).
Personalised stuff might be LOVELY though. A bible quote, or a funny quote. A pet name.
Like hand towels, or handkerchiefs. Or underwear... Hyuk Hyuk CALM DOWN BOB !
Any more suggetsions ? I particularly love it if my friends on here could make the stuff !
When I've talked about you to FWW and suggested she read and posts she's said :" yeah that would be nice " you must be Bobs SLUT of a wife ! ". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
It would be lovely to have a gift from a friend on here so she could know she has nothing to fear from this community.
Anyway....IDEAS folks ?

Know what almost always comes out GORGEOUS? Hand painted wineglasses. You can get the paints at the $100 store (walmart) - the destructions are on the label.

Oh honey! They're so easy and top rack dw safe. Really, the destructions are on the bottles. You can find the paints at any crafting store. You can do plates or any glass things. You "bake" the paints on in a low temp oven. You guys have the $100 store in the UK (WalMart)? I KNOW they have them there!
