Oops, Morning Idiotville!
{{{{{residents and guests of Idiotville}}}}}
KiwiJ: Thanks for posting Robs one and only message. I do remember reading it at the time it was posted. It resonated deeply to me. I too had the thoughts of needing to pound OM. I still get them from time to time as a matter of fact (it doesn't help that I still see him just about every week).

'morning Idiotville,
4 more days RIF?
Jen, your H's post was awesome. Gives me some hope for the future.
Staying home today with DS. He is better but still feeling pretty puny, poor guy.
Cold here this morning and quite crisp and clear. We had rain yesterday and it is lovely this morning.
Gave my H his Christmas present yesterday. Just couldn't wait to cheer him a little. Gave him the 1st season DVD set of Columbo.
AW, how you feeling today? Mr. Mayor glad you are better. My H was sick for two weeks with whatever is going around. Not stomach stuff, but upper respiratory.

Hello Idiotville !!!!!! Been working in Warwick today - yeat THAT warwick with the famous castle in it !
I have a sniffle today - picked up no doubt at yesterdays Karate competition, See I KNEW that sport wasn't healthy !
I'm a bit sad as I always am hen I work at warwick. See I have to drive past THAT hotel to get there and there really isn't another sensible route.
But I'll be OK !
Saw a sheep trying to hump a bale of Hay this morning. I'm guessing he's place SF at the TOP of his EN list !
Quite bizarre though...

Mornin' Idjits!
FF - how is ds this morning?
Starz ((((STARZ))))
Robby - I can yell at you if you need yelling at.
The toilet paper always rolls from the top.
RH - got 1 2x4 at the house. FedEx?
Believer - I LOVE fish. My Oscar grew to be longer than my foot before passing. I had a lovely Red Devil, some dempsys and convicts in the same tank, but the devil, dempsys and convicts all passed because that stupid devil knocked kept fighting with the air hose. One day when we were out for a long time, he mustve knocked out of the tank. Only Oscar and the plecostamus (sp?) lived.
For RIF: We caught a catfish and kept it as a pet. We also would catch crawdaddies (crayfish for you northerners) and keep them as pets till we figured out they were dying b/c the catfish was eatin' 'em. My dad would joke about the 'fish getting "pan big 'nuff". Men!
((((THE REST OF THE IDJITS))))
- Kimmy

Especially eating them though !
I'm redecorating our front room and am considering a tropical aquarium for there. Might save room in the refrigerator !
mmmm. Sea bass broiled in garlic and lemon juice.. mmmmm

hope you are fine & dandy
RIF 4 days to go!! WOW bet you are getting edgy now!!
Fish ARE for eating, as are crayfish EXCEPT Koi and those itty bitty things you pay a fortune for.
Hey I happened to be E mailing a lady by the name of Ellen - in the US - for my young niece as her web site had lots of Xmas things for her and her school friends to use and as we were chating over the net she asked me where 'Uncle Aussie' was as my niece had said her Uncle was in a very 'bad' place. I think she had visions of San Quentin or something...LOL
So I explained he was fighting somewhere in Iraq and we had no idea where or when he would return. So after a little more talk she said she had to go and would email some things for my niece & her school friends to play around with over the next week to which I thanked her very much.
Then to my surprise she emailed me this poem after speaking to a poet friend of hers and I thought it was so good and for all the boys (& girls too!) , like RIF & Aussie who may not be home at Xmas.... though I can hope ... so I wanted to share it with you all
A Soldier's Christmas T’ was the night before Christmas,he lived all alone, in a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone. I had come down the chimney with presents to give, and to see just who in this home did live.
I looked all about, a strange sight I did see, no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree. No stocking by mantle, just boots filled with sand, on the wall hung pictures of far distant lands.
it smelled of medals and badges, awards of all kinds, a sober thought came through my mind. For this house was different, it was dark and dreary, I found the place of a soldier, once I could see clearly.
The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone, curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home. The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder, not how I pictured a brave Allied soldier.
Was this the hero of whom I'd just read? curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed? I realized the families that I saw this night, owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.
Soon round the world, the children would play, and grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas Day. They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year, because of the soldiers, like the one lying here.
I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone, on a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home. The very thought brought a tear to my eye, I dropped to my knees and started to cry.
The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice, "Santa don't cry, this life was my choice; I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more, Like the ANZAC’s before me my life is my God, my Country, my Corps."
The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep, I couldn't control it, I continued to weep. I kept watch for hours, so silent and still and we both shivered from the cold night's chill.
I didn't want to leave on that cold, dark, night, this guardian of honour so willing to fight. Then the soldier rolled over, with a voice soft and pure, whispered, "Carry on Santa, it's Christmas Day, soon it will be daylight and hell coming to play."
He slipped off the safety, he went to the wall The angel went with him his soul shining bright One look at my watch, and I knew he was right. "Merry Christmas my friend, and to all a good night For no matter his fate, now I knew he would be right.

I thought it was such a lovely gesture and made me feel very humble to think strangers understood so well.

AW--the was so beautiful what a fitting name for the poet.
Kimmy--DS is doing a little better today. I am staying home from work with him. He woke up wimpering this morning and just wanting mommy to hold him. Because of his disabilities, at age 6 he is still my yummy little lap baby.
Robby--I have a pile of discarded lumber in my back yard, can I interested you in some? We are doing a two story addition on our house so that DS can have a larger bedroom and a handicapped accessible bathroom. Should be finished by January ( I hope).

NG, you said:
quote:
We also would catch crawdaddies (crayfish for you northerners)

Ahh yes, I used to loved catching those thingys. And you're right, we do call them crayfish. I remember one year at our family reunion, my cousin and I caught about 500 of them. We then picked through and kept the biggest 100. My dad cooked em up. They were ok, but that was before I appreciated seafood.
They were like minature lobsters.
Where's that Christmas card you promised all the emailers?
Bob: Humping an hay bale? Ouch that would hurt.

Thanks for the 2x4 offers. Guess I'll pass. It'd probably cost more to ship them than they cost.

Hi ids,
Was going to post to my journal, but... ah, SSDD.
I'm for sure an idiot because I don't know what I want to happen to my M any more.
But last night, feeling sentimental, I was immensely bummed out.
So I made some of Kimmy's bourbon balls.
Actually I only mixed them up, but before bed I rolled a wad of the gloop up, rolled it in some powdered sugar, and tried it.
Not bad. But all I could taste was cocoa and bourbon. What about the pecans and vanilla crumbs? They may as well be falafel mix for as much as I can taste them. Suggestions, D-D?

Hi, guys. So sorry I was bummed out this weekend. I am still bummed but promise not to bring everyone down with it.
I just can't seem to get here much this week. Don't know what I can do to make more time. It's just a really bad busy week for me. 5 concerts, a rehearsal, plus teaching all day each day, a banquet to attend tonight where Curly might show up. IB and son leaving Thursday to be gone all weekend, leaving me with animals and handling all emergencies. Maybe nothing will happen and it will be peaceful.
I had a plecostomus (sp) we called pickle puss. It was a good name for him. We had a salt water aquarium for a long time. Loved the salt water fish, anemones, coral, etc. Stayed dirty all the time, though, and we finally gave it up. It was so peaceful, though, to sit and watch it. It makes your blood pressure drop 20 points, I believe, just to sit and watch the fish swim.
Well, must go dress for this banquet - we present an award every year in memory of our son. It's kind of an emotional thing for us. Keep your fingers crossed - if Curly is there, I might not be able to restrain my urges. Yuk.

Fish still alive, Yeah!
Bob - A sheep trying to hump a bale of hay? If that was the high point of your day, things must be boring there.
