Careful, Jen, mods're gonna getchya.
Kimmy, good work. He can either complain that you're too demanding and go pound sand, or he can get with the program.
Let's see, treated to a drink, a meal, and nookie? That hasn't happened to me... let's see... ever!

GC: No problem. Question for you. My DD's both got guitars for Christmas. What's the best way for them to learn how to play? Haven't found anyone locally that gives lessons. They do have a DVD and haven't really played around much with it or the guitars.
KiwI: I know what you mean, but with as many posts as he has, he's probably real. I had this employee one time and he didn't listen either. It got to the point where we had to let him go. I would say that he's not a good listener and probably doesn't have the handle on his sitch that he thinks he does. And because of that many on here have trouble posting to him.

Can be very frustrating. But, as I told Liny the wisdom in the responses are valuable for others.

Yes, GC you can hang here...but don't be surprised or offended if someone tries to cheer you up or get you drunk (or both )
Let's see, treated to a drink, a meal, and nookie?
Well, it was in order:
Wild Monkey Dancin Followed by:
Cocktail, Then:
Homemade pizza
I told Nio I am like that old joke:
What's the definition of the perfect woman?
One that'll do you good, then turn into a pizza and a six pack.

RH - start them on chords. There are good videos that help them learn to start with. I teach 6 - 9 weeks of chords, then note reading. Coming back from Christmas, I do about 3 weeks of barre chords, power chords, and then spend 12 weeks on tablature. Music stores have access to all videos and books. Private lessons are a good idea.
Scuse me for butting in - but I have taught guitar for 15 years. Have 3 classes now. (That's when I get to be on MB -- during guitar class. Since it's self paced, they come to me when they're ready to move on. Lots of computer time. ) Also - please buy a $15 electronic tuner for the sake of your sanity!!!

FF, do you mean the Peanut, Nippy, Billy joke?
It sort of defies explanation and will sound completely unfunny if I try to explain it.
It involved lot's of ascii pictures and Robby's soundbites. The mods told us it was a complete waste of bandwidth.
Peanut was the elephant, Nippy was a very loud mouse and Billy was a (homosexual?) goat.
The key players were Robby, Jelly, YL, Kimmy and Dipiti. It went for pages and pages.

I agree with starz, but I would add one other thing.
In addition to learning chords, learning to play single notes is important for many styles of music.
The first thing I teach people is a simple 12-bar blues shuffle, all downpicked.
Or, if there's a song they like with something similar, that's even better.
I've been thinking about starting to give lessons again. I could use the extra cash.

Yep, that's just after I came here. It was way too funny for words.
Robby, you on that plane yet? Get a move on. Remember, you need two extra hours to get on the plane because of your name.
Well, well, well. It's about time for everybody here to leave except for me. (It's about this time of day every day.)
Poor lonesome star. It's tough being a star, people keep mooning you.

I really wish we had the old thread to get the story for anyone who didn't get to read it.
I flew in to AZ last night. Checked in 4 hours early and then went back home and packed. It worked out great!!
Interviews are all tomorrow. I fly home Wednesday.

Ohhh....that's real confidence - going a day before the interview to scope out the town and find a place to live!
Have a margarita on me tonight! And we will be thinking about you tomorrow and praying for you to get what you want.
Good luck. And blessings.

I think that was one of the basis for the many, many, many complaints that Idiotville receives on an hourly basis!!
