AW, my lovely aussie preggo,
Take a breath. It ain't so bad. Gestational Diabetes is pretty common, and it just means that while your old body is making a baby, it's too busy to adjust your blood sugar right. With some good caring for yourself, there's reason to believe it will return to "normal" once the baby is born. And even if it DOESN'T return to normal, having diabetes is not the end of the world either. It just means you need to watch your diet closely enough to keep it healthy.
Sooooo... while you have a lot on your mind about Aussie and his PTSD, you have also got to give your mama-body a little extra loving and and gentle care. Rather than looking at this like a health "problem" look at this as your body's way of saying, "Chick, I am putting all into building a BABY here! Could you give me a little break????" If he's interested, let Aussie pamper you and take care of you. It'll give him something to do and it will keep him in the present (which is very good).
Now, sweetie, you may not like having to poke your finger every day, but if I can lay flat on my back for two months in order to have a healthy child, you can poke yourself. Plus, there are LOTS of things you can eat that will not raise your bloodsugar but will taste yummy and help build a strong, feisty little girl (heehee--I'm rooting for a GIRL!!).
So, mama, love up your body. You are literally creating the most wonderful thing a person CAN create--another whole human being! You are creating Aussie's DAUGHTER (heehee) and your body deserves a little gentle treatment to help it along!!
GO MAMA!!!!
CJ

(((((AW))))))
What a week! You must be exhausted with it all. Please stop blaming yourself so much, you've been so busy and stressed with Aussie's PTSD and your other worries, its no wonder.
Sounds like this is a wake-up call that in order to help Aussie, you also need to look after yourself properly.... Maybe, in a sense, it could be a good thing if Aussie now can focus also on looking after you. It might help him to have some sort of focus for his protection and care while he's trying to adjust to not being in a war zone.
Wow, its not easy. Hang in there!!! It'll all be more than worth it!!!

AW - Try eating lots of broccoli - I've heard it is good for borderline diabetes, or gestational diabetes. And it is much better than liver.

Ok Taking a big breath CJ and getting my head on right.
Aussie told me I had to stop trying to fix everything. Lots of things I cant do by myself anyway so I should just let things go for a bit. I had to start looking after myself first because I haven’t been doing that very well.
Suppose he is right but I told him I just wanted to…told me to stop it. Ok I’ll try.
As for broccoli I love it and have it at least once a week, I’d have it more but no one else likes it, but too bad I’ll have it more often, steamed with oyster sauce. yum
Well I’ll have to deal with Diabetes like it or not. Aussie has set up an appointment with a Dietician for the New Year and in the mean time I have to do lots of homework reading a lot of info he picked up from the Diabetic Clinic at the local hospital in Bentley.
So I said to him that it looks like I have to buy food for me and food for the rest of the family so that I eat the right things. Told me I’m doing it again. OK. Says we will buy the same for everyone. And they can like it or lump it. Just have to watch the sugar and fat content of foods & it will do all of us good.
I guess that means I have to shut up and do as I’m told for a few days until I feel 100%… Aussie is standing behind me drinking his coffee reading this and said Yeah that will be a first. He can talk.
And he says its time for me to go to bed as well … so I’m going, tired and don’t mind at all. Night gang, speak to you all later.
