Mr E,

"Ever tried to find a sitter for New Year's eve?"

When my older son and daughter were still babysitting, they were booked for New Year's Eve in July or August. One job they took a few years running was both of them babysitting together at one house for all the kids while their parents all partied at another house. They were paid by each parent so the parents could pay the regular amount and my kids got the bonus bucks that come with New Year's Eve (of course they more than earned it--slept all day New Year's Day to recover LOL)

You might want to consider something like that for next year. The kids enjoyed their own "party" with lots of games, home-made confetti, etc, and the adults enjoyed their party.

Mr.E - My contribution to mankind is babysitting on New Year's Eve. I raised my children mostly by myself - away from family. So I know how much "couple time" means.

Every New Year's Eve for the last 10 years, I have had a sleep-over for kids of friends, and kids in the neighborhood. I make appetizers, rent movies, and at midnight we go outside and bang pots and pans. Meanwhile their parents get to get away together. It is a fun and safe time for all.

Not going to celebrate this year. Its an artificial celebration. Anything I have to celebrate or mourn is no slave to the calenedar reading. Today's dh1t is still there tomorrow. 2004s honey is still sweet in 2005.

I will pray, go to bed and sleep my way through the change of calendar.

" Almighty God, time and space are nothing to You, but many of Your children mark the passing of good and bad by the rolling of the years.

At this time when so many lives ar elost and broken by nartural disaster and War, forgiv eme for taking time to remember the faithful betrayed and former betrayers . I pray that You especially bless the poor folks whose hearts have been broken by infidelity, and that you may pour your love upon them and bless them with warm and fulfilling relationships in 2005 to such a huge degree that 2004's heartaches will seem like distant dreams.

Amen.

Checking in...

I bought myself some shrimp (OK a lot of shrimp) and rented some movies. I plan to stay home ALONE this year, do what I please, eat what I please, and fall asleep when I get tired.

OK, I did some shopping today and had to write a project status report for work (even though it is a holiday). And I have holes to drill, nails to pound, switchplates to install, bookcases to assemble. But, I don't think I'll do those things tonight!

No mistletoe here. But I get all the doggie kisses I want and maybe that's better anyway!

redhat, yes my WW and I are in plan A. About three weeks now. Seems as if things are ok, looking forward to seeing my W tonight not my WW.

Best of the new year to everyone. I still have 7 hours left before we pop a cork.
