Cymanca, that is how I am getting. I cried daily there for a while. Now even if I try to I sometimes can't. I hope you are right, that is acceptance. I know the thought of my WW/STBXW with her BF just kills me and that is when it is easiest for me to cry. Someday soon I hope that I will no longer be able to cry abou that too.

Movies get me too...

How about Love Story...

Or the movie I cried the most...

The Champ with little Ricky Schroder. It's not that great a movie, but when little Ricky is tugging on all the adults around him in the locker and saying, "Wake him up, he can't be dead..." Ugh
And the best thing about the movie, the sad part happens near the beginning, so you don't have to watch the rest...

Last book I cried to, The Five People You Meet in Heaven.

Yes sir SS!

No I won't stay away from church too long. I love my church, but it is very emotional there. The first hour is just raising your hands and voices(in song) to the Lord, you know it gets pretty intense.

Okay, as far as beautiful and sad movies, nothing compares to "Where the Rivers Run North". It is the most beautiful movie. The woman (Bangor) always refers to herself in the third person, and to her SO as "mister" so it takes a couple of watchings to figure out what the heck she is saying, but it is beauty at it's finest, and never fails to bring a good cry.

(you know GC's threads always bring about the sap in me)

Here is my new fav song by Bonnie Rait, I think Richard Thompson wrote, but she sings it like a bird. I once asked my ex if he knew where "my better side" was, because I was really, really sad that day, and he said "you mean you have a better side?" isn't that mean? All those years and he didn't even know where I keep my "better side".

Dimming Of The Day
Bonnie Raitt
(Longing In Their Hearts)

This old house is falling down around my ears
I'm drowning in a river of my tears
When all my will is gone you hold me sway
I need you at the dimming of the day

You pulled me like the moon
pulls on the tide
You know just where I keep my better side

What days have come to keep us far apart
A broken promise or a broken heart
Now all the bonny birds have wheeled away
I need you at the dimming of the day

Come the night you're only what I want
Come the night you could be my confidant

I see you on the street and in company
Why don't you come and rest your mind with me
I'm living for the night we steal away
I need you at the dimming of the day
I need you at the dimming of the day...

Thanks Gray, for the catharsist therapy!

Oh and 2long I did check out your group, she does have a very soft and pretty voice. Kind of reminds me of ABBA.

Smur,

Is Linda Richards wife and she had an affair on him? Is that what you mean? I'm lost.

Don't worry, Gray doesn't care. My gosh he works for the government. Enough said?

Sorry for the confusion weaver, I just meant that I didn't want to talk about the song too much so as not to threadjack.

Yes, Linda was Richard's wife. They did get D'd, but I don't think it was because of an A, at least as far as I know.
He wrote a lot of beautiful songs, though.

My band had "Walkin' on a Wire" in our list of covers for a while, but we haven't played it in years.

Speaking of Richard Thompson and crying... several years ago, sparrow and I saw him in concert. Now, I'd heard "'52 Vincent" about a million times by then. I'd figured out how to play it (have since forgotten - it's very hard to do it the way he does), and I thought it had lost all its dazzle for me.

But when he played it that night, I was completely moved. It was like he plugged my emotions into a socket. I just sat there with my face all wet while he played it. I'm not a giant fan of his, but no other performance has ever had even close to that effect on me.

SS is right, I am a freakin' sap, but the crying is still rare.

Maybe you just need a sad song that's more than a little really black humor at the same time???

Peter Gabriel, "Home Sweet Home"

"Met this girl called Josephine and took her up on my machine,
We had a little fun, and now we got a little one.
Had to get married, been chased out of town.
Found ourselves a place to live, we put all our money down.

It was Home Sweet Home, Home Sweet Home,
Eleven floors up in a tower block, happy just to have a home.
I've gone and changed the locks on our home.

Nothing really worked out right; things got broke, they stayed that way.
None of our friends came round at night, little Sam got no place to play.
"We've got to get out of here, Bill," she said,
"I've been telling you all the while,"
When I came home from work that night,
She'd jumped out the window with our child.

From our Home Sweet Home, Home Sweet Home.
Just a place to take a rest, just a place to make a nest.
We called it our home.

When the insurance money came through,
It seemed dirty, didn't know what to do.
Took out the cash, went down to the casino,
Down on the wheel on a double,
And I won, oh yes I won, like I never won before.
Bought myself a country house with an antique carved oak door.

It was Home Sweet Home, Home Sweet Home.
Just a place to lay our head, think of all the things we said
About in our Home Sweet Home"

Um, gc...

...I even know a song that has sparrows, crying, and even "affair" in the lyrics (though I don't THINK that's what they meant by affair):

The Association, "Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies"
(Gary Alexander)

Jim Yester, in the liner notes to the Japanese _From The Original Master Tapes_ CD (Warner/Pioneer WPCP-3536):

'A very flippant title for a very inspired song. Influenced by Jules'
involvement in Eastern Philosophy, this was one of the songs that prompted Timothy Leary to comment that the group was a major contributor to the spiritual awareness of the youth of the day.'

"I have walked along the paths of dark and light
And I have seen the sunrise and I've seen the night
I've seen the calm before the storm and then the fight
And now I see the sparrows as they begin to fly
And all that's left for me to do
Is cry

I've had my view of happiness and my view of despair
I've cleaned out all the cobwebs and I've learned how to compare
I've seen all of the circles and I've had my last affair
And now I see the sparrows as they begin to fly
And all that's left for me to do
Is cry

Thinking that I was lost then finding the end to all beginnings
Gave to me the key made of lead and golden
Freeing locks, Pandora's boxes, devils are expended

And I'm finally free

And when all the tears are finally cried
And I am finally clean inside
The gentle winds will come and they will dry my mind
And I will see the sparrows that need no longer fly
And all that will be left for me to do
Is die"
