Oh Dalson! That was good!

You do know the story of the man who went to church in NY, and there was a pay phone to God. Cost of the call $7,485.

Then he went to a church in CO, and there was a pay phone to God. Cost of the call $1,200.

Then he went to a church in NM. There was another pay phone with a line to God. Cost of that call was $600.

Lastly, gentleman went to a church in Corpus Christi, TX ( ). There was a phone with a line to God, but try as he may, he couldn't figure out the cost of the call. Finally, he asked the preacher-man how much it would be to talk to God with that phone. The preacher-man smiled as if to say, "You're not from around here," and patiently explained, "Sir, this is Texas. We don't need a pay phone to call God. From here it's a local call."

Overcompensating?!?! Nope, it's just hard to be humble...

Emo's!!?! Dealan-de, ever go to the one in Houston? That was the best. I mis-spent my youth on 6th street... the thrill is gone . Go in March during SxSW and it resembles Mardi Gras... stepping over puke just doesnt thrill me like it usta... I'll still float the Comal, if I can get a group to go with me. Now that's a hoot and a half!

Hi Weaver, It's ok... I dont bite. I was looking for a formatible name for my MB Login... Drucilla was an insane vampire on BuffytVS. Strong and viscious... seemed appropriate at the time - Dru

I'm not fond of Houston. Anyplace you can smell 10 miles before you actually drive into the city is not my kind of town.

My cousin is having a Scottish band stay at her casa during SxSW. She hosts a band every year.

I miss Austin. So much stuff to do that didn't require a lot of dinero.

But, here I look out of my kitchen window and see the ocean. Even trade, I reckon.

Not all there?? How 'all there' do you think I was just after dday?? I'd say Vamp-Drucilla was probably more rational than I was...

(I'm better now, I promise)

Yeah, Houston stinks; I could never live there again. But my family is still there and in many parts of TX...

Heck.... all my EX's live in Texas

Austin is a LOT more fun!!

What do you mean Houston stinks?

We have three dubious honors bestowed upon us in recent years....

We have won the "fattest city".....

We have won the "city with the most bilboards".....

We have won the "worst air quality" - yes even worse than LA for a few years....

Ah, HOME SWEET HOME!

Now, for a chane of pace, and for all the left-coasters here (I am a temporary one myself)...

Wanted to keep this going. I followed my H around the US and Europe, and everywhere we went we had our Texas flag that flew over the Alamo.
When we finally came "home" to Texas I told my H that we could visit anywhere he wanted, but I would never move out of the Great State of Texas again. He recently came in, said he was offered a position in CA, I told him he could take it and I would see him on the weekends and vacations.
He laughed and said he had no desire to leave Texas himself.

Gig'em Aggies!! There is no place like Texas, and I am Texas-proud.

And as far as cooking goes. Nobody can panfry up a mess of perch better than me. And don't even get me started on salmon. After the three day salmon diet I've been on, I am the salmon queen!

I had been avoidig this thread until I saw that pep changed the title. I peeked to confirm my suspicions.

My only contributions:

I've enjoyed myself in Texas on a couple of occasions.

Bay City is the flatest place I've ever seen - including the open ocean.

My fav Auntie currently lives in Kerrville.

And especially for TM, to go along with all the other noteworthy things Texas is known for, if the Alamo had had a back door, the capital of Mexico would be Austin.
