Yup, us foreigners, yankees and Eye-talians are everywhere.
Mel, I had to laugh when you said your mother was 4"8" and wouldn't take nonsense from anyone. You forgot to add she's TEXAN. I wouldn't take on anyone from Texas, 4'8" or 8'8'.

She is one bad hombre', Jen! Strangely, all her daughters are a foot taller than her. But I am sure she could still take me down if she wanted!
Hey, I really loved your post today to that lady who is struggling with exposing to OMW. Excellent points!

For those who don't know, and those that should. March 2, was Texas Independence Day, declared in 1836. (from Mexico that is). ON March 6 is the anniversary of the day the ALAMO was overrun by Santa Anna and his thousands of MEXICAN soldiers. There were @ 136 Texas men, women and children there. Those were valiant people. There was a time when we had those days out of school and state holidays, along with 21 April when Sam Houston and his army routed the Mexicans at San Jancinto.

I flunked geography too....
And what little I did know then,,I've forgotten now!
But I figure if it isn't in California,, it's not really important anyway...

Thanks, Jen. LOL, that sounds funny, now that I think about it. We Texans do feel as if the Alamo is our own. I guess it *is*, huh?
It's a great place to visit, BTW. Inside are housed many artifacts and documents related to Texas history. You can view videos about the Alamo and its history, etc.
Ya'll come!
BTW, we have a quite honorable organization called "Daughters of the Republic of Texas", of which my mother is a proud member. The local chapter does much work in maintaining the Alamo. You have to show direct lineage to join -- my mom has traced ours back to Adam and Eve, practically. [ March 05, 2005, 12:03 AM: Message edited by: papermom ]
