MIMI!!! GODDESSES are supposed to be masters of all subjects, much like a female James Bond.
I know it just slipped your mind that STROM THURMOND was a S.C. senator, not a GA senator!!!
However, since you brought up Strom. He spent his last few years in a special wing of a S.C. hospital, actually he lived there. His wife summoned the dr (opthamologist) where #1S works and asked for an in-hospital eye exam. So, the dr. and #1S (this was about 3 years ago) traveled to the town where the hospital is located and gave him an eye exam. He was very kind and allowed #1S to have his picture made with him even though Strom was in his P.J.'s (his wife said he normally only allowed his picture if in a suit).
It is one of #1S's prized photos, carries it with him on his PDA.

CRAZY ME!
Follow this faulty reasoning....
When you mentioned house tours, I was thinking Charleston where I regularly attend the FESTIVAL OF HOUSES AND GARDENS...
You probably live in that other historical (Ga.) city that I'm longing to visit. Hmmmmm... H seems to be resisting a visit there. I think he may have taken FOW there....trying to do Charlestonlike with her...
Just my JAMES BOND suspicion on this.....

Okay, I'll overlook the slip of facts, because I know that GODDESSES would know better...
To me, the "other city" to which you are obviously referring, and which is often compared to Charelston, is nice but no match for Charleston. (Fellow Georgians, forgive me).
Charleston just seems to have the right mix of old and new, the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, and the beaches nearby. It is hard to beat Charleston.
The only other city in the same league is Williamsburg. I could EASILY spend a long, long time there and love every minute of it. One of my dream vacations is to sign up for one of the week-long archeological (sic?) camps that you can do and join in with their experts in digging out ruins. I would LOVE that.
Okay, back to the cotton field, work to be done.

Oh no, he answered another thread. I´m surprised he didn´t say good morning. Maybe he's testing us to see if we notice...
I'm OK. No news.

Okay...Good Afternoon to all -
Well, now that you ask....I'm beginning to question the real point in posting every day. There is certainly nothing changing (that I can see, anyway) related to my M. And...there are a lot of folks here that need the wisdom that my friends have to offer without me hogging their time. I don't want to bore you all to tears.
However, I do enjoy the correspondence.
Okay, here is the "Truman Show" update.
I stopped at Lowes' yesterday and bought a weed eater. I've been trying to do without as much as I can until I see what WW and I end up splitting (assuming that is what happens), but I really needed a weed eater.
I got home and mowed the yard. First time I've mowed the back yard, and I was impressed at how good it looks. The former owners had an aluminum carport type cover in the back that I sold last week. Also, they had a lot of stuff just piled up that I've now cleaned up and the yard looks like a real yard. And...I was able to trim around the drive, curb, fences, and flower beds with the weedeater. I think it looks great!! I needed that, it felt good to sweat. Also, I noticed Mrs. Reese's yard needed mowing, so I mowed it while I was at it. (I was duly rewarded with a large slice of homemade strawberry cake, which was EXCELLENT!!!). And, the homeowner on the opposite side (the pediatrician) pointed out that their blueberry bush is covered with blueberries and told me to help myself anytime I want any (blueberries on cereal is very good).
I sprayed the yard with a pesticide. I found 4 fleas on Jeb Sunday night and he asked if I could do something about that. So...I treated the yard.
When I came in, I stripped my bed and laundered the sheets while I was cooking dinner. I cooked a ribeye steak on the George Foreman grill, along with french fries and a roll. Then the strawberry cake, of course.
Then, it was bill paying time. I sat down for about an hour and paid bills and updated my checkbook.
See...I told you it was boring. But, I guess a comment of substance is how nice it is to be able to work in the yard again. I LOVE yard work, grooming flower beds, etc. It was really hot and humid yesterday, I had to take a brief respite on the front porch swing with water for a while. But...that was nice too, swinging on my very own front porch.
Tonight I've got CASA training which starts at 5:30, so I just get home, walk Jeb, wash up and change into some jeans, and out the door. Fortunately, the office is less than 5 minutes from the house.
Tomorrow (on my day off), I've got to go to the municipal building and be finger printed for the CASA background check, and I also want to finish the deed research on my house. I'm going to see if #1S would like to get up early enough to go to breakfast, then he can accompany me to the municipal building.
Also, I may ask him to accompany me to the local newspaper office. He worked there for a couple of years (writing obits) and he tells me they've got a huge file room of photos. I'd like to see if they have a good one of the former owner as he worked at the paper for about 2 decades.
Then, off to some of our historic visits for the day.
Oh, I also bought Reggie a new basketball this past weekend and I've got to take that over to him. I may see if #1S would like to go over and shoot a few hoops tomorrow.
Okay, there...that's it for right now.
Thanks for asking...cc & Mimi (nice to be missed!!).
Mimi...I was really excited to hear your news last yesterday about OS and GF stuff. I was thinking about that yesterday while I was mowing. It was nice to "see" you on such a mountaintop, you deserve it.
So..cc...I take if from your comment that there is no change at all in your sitch?
Needless to say, I've not heard from WW since last week.
Georgia
BTW - Don't forget to stop by FH's thread and congratulate him on the 30th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. FH.

Well, GOOD AFTERNOON, Georgia: Hmmmmmmm cooked a ribeye steak on the George Foreman grill, along with french fries and a roll. Then the strawberry cake, of course. I'm wondering about this diet. How's the hypertension? Cholesterol levels? Thanks for noticing my good stuff from yesterday.

Hi there, GODDESS...
Well, the cholesterol was 143 the last time I gave blood and the b.p. was way down (I forget the numbers).
I've got to get myself motivated to get back to the gym. I am not doing good maintaining my weight, I've gained about 20 pounds. I know the Norvasc and Lipitor are masking issues that I might could control with diet / weight, but I've not worked myself back to that frame of mind again yet.
I am truly excited about your get together this past weekend. It sounds to me that H is beginning to foster the type of R with S's that you thought you'd never see. That is so good, and if GF (or some other GF) becomes DIL some day then you will be blessed with a new D in your family.
It'll be another opportunity for you to model the Proverbs 31 GODDESS role made popular by your GM....
Good Job.

Georgia: You said: I've got to get myself motivated to get back to the gym JUST DO IT! PUT IT ON YOUR SCHEDULE!! I don't want you to make it to HEAVEN before I do... OK? I hate exercising, too. Don't wait for the right frame of mind. It's just something you must do, Georgia.

All right, I'll work on that. Since right now I'm in CASA training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, I can schedule trips to the gym on Monday and Friday (or Saturday). (The gym is not open Wednesday evening or Sunday).
Starting next Monday, I will plan on working out at the gym after work.
I'm beginning to feel like a blimp, I get winded walking up the stairs to my office. I've got to get my weight back down.
I just talked to #1S. We're going to incorporate an hour of racquetball into tomorrow as well (hopefully I'll not die of a massive heart attack on the court).
Okay, Mimi....you know what to do, you are the keeping of the thread tomorrow. Remember, no food fights, no name calling, all must conduct themselves with proper decorum at all times.

How about walking in your neighborhood? Don't you walk Jeb?
Cardiovascular workout: At least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

Now that Jeb has his own fenced back yard, I've gotten out of the habit of walking him on leash. The park entrance is 0.4 miles from my house. That is a good walk but unfortunately they close the park at 6:00 P.M.
Okay, I'll talk to Jeb about walking more on a leash, I know he likes that anyway.
Thanks for taking the time to be interested.
I'll work on it....

And...there are a lot of folks here that need the wisdom that my friends have to offer without me hogging their time. I don't want to bore you all to tears. FGG, First you do not bore us. Second I believe it is important for us, and maybe for many others who are on this board, to have daily reminders of people in plan B. A plan B well done really does mean that you have nothing to say about the A or your WS because you are dark. But if we plan Bers don't post , people will forget what plan B should be or could be like. When it's all over these weeks or months of plan B are described in a couple of sentences. While you are living them it feels like eternity. On the other hand, if we plan Bers don't keep coming back how do we remain convinced and committed to plan B without some reminders now and then? If you don't read and participate in MB you might tend to forget what you are supposed to be doing, after all for you and me, it has been 6 months of this "plan" and our lives have totally changed. By this time we have also gotten used to this "new life" and so we may forget that it is sort of temporary/permanent sort of thing. I haven't figured out yet how to get on with my life as though WH weren't ever to come back but still keep in mind that he may. I need reminding that I am in A PLAN as Mimi would say and not that I'm just getting on with my life or that I'm waiting for WH to decide our futur. So please keep saying good morning and telling us all the details of your life. It makes my day <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I know you won't be here wednesday, but I will be looking out for you on tursday. cc

BTW CASA in spanish means house but also home as in: me voy a casa = I'm going home. Reminds me of the song Homeward bound by Simon and Garfunkel.

Good Morning to all -
Thank you, cc, for the very kind and encouraging words. I appreciate the correspondence of you and all others here, and I do find it an encouragement to know that I am not alone in the endeavor, nor am I the only one in similar circumstances.
That being said...
#1S and I went to breakfast yesterday morning at the local grill where WW and I formerly went on Saturday mornings. Afterwards, we went to the jail where I was fingerprinted for the CASA background check.
Then, we went to the municipal building where we spent 4 hours researching historical records. I got bored and tired, but #1S was really in his element and he kept going and really got into digging into this stuff. He pointed out that it looked like a scene from Harry Potter, us lugging around these 100 year old 11 X 17 books of deeds with the big leather covers.
I'll try to make this short, but I really found it immensely interesting. We were able to establish that in fact the house has a very short lineage, it was built in 1938 by the sci-fi writer, his widow inherited it upon his death in 1972, who sold it to the folks I bought it from in 1990.
But..we tried to trace the property back as far as we could. We got to 1891, when it was owned by the law partner of a gentleman who later became supreme court justice. We couldn't find how he acquired the land.
In going back to the deed books of the late 1700's / early 1800's it was interesting to see all the deeds of slaves bought and sold. A LOT of history in that room. It is amazing that slaves were bought and sold just like pieces of real estate.
When we left there, it was mid-afternoon and we went to lunch. We never made it to the historic homes or to play racquetball. But, we definitely had a grand time doing our historical reseach together. I brought home a stack of copies of deeds.
We talked a long time during lunch. I found out why I haven't heard from #2S in the last 2 weeks. Seems that the church where #2S is on staff is having some significant problems, and I mean SIGNIFICANT problems. Unfortunately, #2S is having to deal with this. I want to come running to his rescue, but I can't do that. The Board of Deacons has given the pastor a 2 month sabattical to get himself under control and see where he wants to go with his ministry.
I called #2S last night and talked to him for a while. I just told him that I would pray for he and DIL and that I'm there should he need to talk to me. I know this is a hard situation for him, he may end up needing to resign from the church over this. Something he doesn't want to do not only due to finances but because he has developed such a good rapport with the youth.
Anyway, that's about it for me right now.
GOOD MORNING, MIMI...

Good Morning back to you....
Glad to hear about the fun day that you had with your son.
I'm in mourning today because the hard drive died on my home computer. I really miss it! It's in the warranty period so HP will replace it but I have to do without computer access for several days.
You and I surely know that I could be having worse problems today. RIGHT?
HOWEVER...you know how a GODDESS is.....

Good Morning to all (INCLUDING MIMI) -
Sorry to hear about your dysfunctional computer, Mimi. I've not gotten internet access as home, it's $40 a month I can do without spending right now. However, I did sign up for cable in the new house.
The CASA training is really enjoyable. We all seem to be getting to be pretty good friends and are talking about a CASA party for this group when we complete training (in about 3 weeks). I am missing my pottery class on Tuesday nights, so I'll be glad when I can back to that.
Some of the cases that the coordinators have been telling us about seem unreal. Seems that most cases involve drugs in some way, with meth use apparently being more detrimental than cocaine. It seems (from what I read in the local paper) that meth is just now becoming a really big problem here.
Within the next 2 weeks we'll start attending court sessions as observers as part of our training. We've been told that there are more kids in the court system than there are volunteers to work with them.
I'm planning on stopping by this afternoon and visiting with Reggie for a while and take him the new basketball that I've been hauling around for almost a week.

Good Morning, Georgia:
I have cable internet service. I think it's less than $40 a month given that I also have cable. Yes, I continue to miss my computer. I can hardly wait to revive her.
I'm glad that you are enjoying your training.
We're planning on spending more time with OS tomorrow as H is helping him with his new job.
YS is continuing to struggle with his D. I can understand this given the YS' full awareness of the A. OS does not know all the details and is clear about not wanting to know about it....
Thanks for encouraging me not to give up on this, Georgia. I really appreciate it.
I'm reading a novel, THE FIVE PEOPLE WE MEET IN HEAVEN. One of the FIVE PEOPLE states: "Strangers are just family you are yet to know"....(in heaven)

Hi Mimi...
I am glad to hear the "WE'RE" planning on spending more time with OS....That is good to hear that you both have planned this.
I suspect that YS not only has the issue of knowing more that he has to deal with, but also may have less maturity than OS. There may be more time needed for him. I would be curious about the R between YS and OS. Are they close?
I think #2S/DIL are having a harder time in dealing with my sitch. A lot has to do with (IMO) the fact that they are younger and less mature. Also, the fact that WS has been much more hostile to #1DIL than to #2DIL has caused a disparity in the way this whole thing is viewed by the S's.
Anyway, point being that my YS, as well, is having a harder time than my OS, too.
