Good Morning all -

This may be a little quick this morning, but nothing much has happened over night anyway.

My CASA visit didn't happen. I called the lady I was going to see and got her voice mail. She didn't return my call at all last night, so I didn't go there. Her house is about 25 miles from me, so I didn't want to waste a trip if she wasn't home.

I need some good engr help on my pond. I've found that I have fixed all leaks, my stream from the upper (big) to the lower (small) pond overflows as it is unable to handle the capacity of the 3,000 GPH pump recirculating the water. However, it does make a nice waterfall!!

I think I just have to dig out the stream to be deeper so it can handle more water before it reaches capacity.

Any water management majors in the crowd?

GOOD MORNING, MIMI.....

Oh, there was one more thing. The lady who is the former homeowner stopped by last night to get her mail (I still get a lot of their mail). She sat and talked a long time, and I couldn't believe one thing she brought up. She asked if I would be interested in starting a home Bible study, maybe once a month. We could invite some neighbors and maybe make it a mini-social with appetizers and such.

The thing that is so strange about that is that for years I've been wanting to lead a home Bible study. I'd mentioned this to WW several times, but she didn't want to have people over to our home.

So, this was quite a surprise when I was asked to do that when I hadn't even considered it since moving into this house. I would think it would be nice if we could have it on the (soon to be built) deck when the weather is agreeable.

I'm open to suggestions for good home Bible study material for middle-aged folks.

Hummmm....

And, while I'm thinking of it. I was checking my e-mail account that WW broke into and I happened to notice that I still had in the in-box an e-mail from CASA listing all the contact info from the folks in my CASA class. Of course, I'm on the list along with my PERSONAL cell phone number. I think I know now where WW got my cell #. She broke into the account at 1:30 AM, and at 2:00 AM I got the first phantom "PRIVATE" phone call on my personal cell.

Good Morning to all -

I hope you all had a great weekend.

I got another notice this morning from YAHOO that may password had been changed again, this time yesterday (Sunday) afternoon at 1:39 PM. So, I changed it back again.

By the way, MoiNouvelle, I tried to e-mail you back but the e-mail bounced back. The account you are writing is secure.

I cooked lunch for the S's / DIL's yesterday afternoon. That was very nice, they were all over at the house most of the afternoon. I grilled some top sirloin steaks that had been marinading over 24 hours, made mashed potatoes with the skins (red skin), and yeast rolls. I must admit it was all VERY GOOD. I think they really enjoyed it as well.

#1S/DIL are getting really excited about their house. They are expecting to close on the house before Sept. 9. I'm scheduled to take off the week of Sept 12 (the divorce is 14th), so I will hopefully be able to help them move in.

I've got an appointment this afternoon after work with the other family member who is attempting to adopt the CASA kids.

I worked all day Saturday on the pond. I had to widen the stream to allow it to handle the capacity of the waterfall without overflowing, and I reworked the waterfall with gray slate stones. It really looks great, and coming home to the sound of all that rushing water is really nice. I'm really getting excited about adding the deck next month.

I went under the house for the first time on Saturday as I had to wire the electrical outlets for the pond. I found a lot of little "trinkets" under there, including a very old Georgia Power electric bill, some kind of magazine kind of like a Reader's Digest, a lady's shoe, a medicine bottle of some sort, and various pieces of glass / pottery.

Anyway, that's about it for me right now. I may try to visit Mrs. Reese this afternoon after the CASA visit as they are both relatively close to one another.

cc - I've been following your story over on your thread. I wish I had some wise words to add.

GOOD MORNING, MIMI....

Can you change the question/answer that she has to be familiar with in order to change your password?

Good Morning, Georgia!

Sounds like you are doing great, keeping yourself busy with FUN activities.

I'm sorry to remind you, though, that your WW is likely to try to put off the D again.

Hi Mimi....

I must admit that I am really, really enjoying my yard work and pond. I know you remember how much I missed that when I was in the apartment. Flower pots just wouldn't quite do.

The pond and "stream" are so nice!! The stream reminds me of a mountain brook, the water rushes over it (very rapidly) and creates such a peaceful sound. Once last night Jeb went for a walk in the stream. I had to admonish him to jump over it, not walk in it.

I decided to spare no expense on my filtration system as I have had problems in the past with keeping my other pond clean, and that is paying off nicely. The water is so clear that I can see my little fish swimming around even in the deepest part of the pond.

Last night I watched "Phantom of the Opera" on DVD. That was wonderful!! I cranked the home theatre up and really shook the ol' wavy windows (I hope I didn't keep the neighbors awake). I love that music!!! Now I've got the urge to go to NYC and see it live.

On the divorce front. I'm told that the only way it can be prolonged past late September is if she asks for a jury trial for the divorce. I just can't believe that she would do that, it would certainly (I would think) NOT be to her benefit to do so.

I've sent myself an e-mail from my work account to my personal account that says the following:

SUBJECT: HI WW

For many years, you have kept various password protected e-mail and instant message accounts, and insisted on keeping them secret from me.

I would ask that you refrain from breaking into my personal e-mail account and give me the same measure of privacy that you have insisted on for years.

Thank you.

Georgia

Anyway, that is about it for right now.

Oh...there is other news. The senior pastor of the church I now attend found out last Tuesday that he has cancer. He is in his mid-40's. I don't know all the details, but on Tuesday he had surgery to remove one kidney, his spleen, and part of his pancreas. Needless to say, this has been a real shock to the church. As I understand it, the pathology report is still pending which will address whether or not the cancer has spread beyond what has been removed already.

This is a real surprise as the pastor is a "health nut". He runs marathons and that sort of thing, very trim and fit looking.

Your yard sounds HEAVENLY! I'm so glad to hear that you are enjoying yourself with the Home Theater and DVDs as well.

For sure, you must go to New York!!!

What a loss for your WW...missing out on all of this...

You are having and will have a WONDERFUL LIFE, Georgia...

Thank you, Mimi....

I do indeed miss sharing all this with WW. Much like your H, I want to show it to her and get her PRAISE and ADMIRATION. However, I'm motivating myself to do this not only for my own enjoyment, but also remembering that I want to be able to entertain on the deck when cooler weather arrives, which is really only about 2 months away.

I've only been to NYC once, and that was for a 3 day conference at a hotel. The shuttle picked me up at the airport and I stayed in the hotel until I left.

Last summer when I had a conference in DC, WW went with me and we stayed in Georgetown within walking distance to Kennedy Center. We went to see The Producers. I really enjoyed going, but I wasn't too impressed with the story itelf, I thought it was highly overrated. And, I also didn't care to go to a major threatrical production and hear the "F" word used as a part of the dialog (I guess I'm out of touch with the times).

But, I would LOVE to see Phantom of the Opera.

There is indeed many more things I want to do and see that I haven't done. (Remember, I'm just a simple Georgia Guy, not a world travler!!).

Among to do's:

- Visit upper New England states
- Grand Canyon (ride the donkeys to the bottom)
- other western sites (such as petrified forrest)
- San Diego (been to LA, SF, but not SD).
- NYC - Broadway play and S of Liberty
- Key West (been to upper Keys)
- And...the #1 thing I want to do: Alaskan cruise.

LOL!

As a joke, I had my palm read on Saturday.

Of course, she said I was going on an ALASKAN CRUISE... She was almost dead wrong about everything else....

Afterwards, H and I talked about: What middle-aged person doesn't want to go on an Alaskan cruise?

Of course, WE'VE got to do that. Right, Georgia?

GG,

I rented Phantom of the Opera the weekend before last. I did the same as you, cranked it up....I really wish I had seen it in the theatre with that quality of surround sound.

But I don't think the other people would have liked me singing along like I did at home by myself!

But I do think I'll be buying the DVD...

Glad you had a great weekend with your sons and dils!

Edited to add - I also saw Phantom in LA several years ago -and it was awesome - but nothing like I hear it is to see it in NYC, since the theatre in NYC is historic as well.

The one is LA was....what you would expect for LA!

GG,
I don't know how you feel about the United Methodist Church, but they have a wonderful series for adult Bible Study called "Disciple" they also have the Cokesbury bookstores which offer tons of great short term bible studies. I think Cokesbury probably has a web-site.

Mimi....I do hope to do the Alaskan cruise someday, I think it would be fun. However, I've got to admit going on such a trip ALONE doesn't appeal to me too much. Remember the dr. I meet last December (on the plane)? I remember she had just gone on long (about a month, I think) Caribbean cruise alone. She said she really enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I could do that.

CSue - I would like to see the Phantom at an IMAX theatre. I think it really added a lot to the home experience with the home theatre thing. That is what of the best $77 I have spent since being out on my own, it really enhances watching DVD's. However, I'm really wanting to see it on live - NYC would be nice.

I just checked the Delta weekend web-fares. They had a special this weekend, I could have flown from Charlotte, NC on Saturday to Laguardia and returned today or tomorrow for $118 r/t. Add to that the cost of food, lodging, ticket, etc.....it would be a little pricey, but not out of the question. Perhaps that will be a "get away" trip for the weekend after the divorce.

Jenna1 - thanks for your suggestion. I haven't said this on the site, but I am currently attending a UMC church. And..I think that one of the upcoming classes is the DISCIPLE series. I'll look into it, thanks for the tip.

Okay, work to be done.

The palm reader/soothsayer inside of me does not see you going alone on the Alaskan Cruise....

I'm not seeing who you are going with but definitely NOT ALONE....

Hummmm....very intesting. However, you said that your palm reader got ALMOST everything wrong (except for the Alaskan cruise).

However, I will go WAY out on a limb and say that I DO NOT plan to spend the rest of my life alone (or with just Jeb).

BTW - I just got a call from my CASA visit for this afternoon asking me to reschule my visit for tomorrow.

I was kidding. I don't really believe in palm reading.

However, of course, in reality, given who you are, you won't be ALONE...especially on an ALASKAN CRUISE.... <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

GG,
If you get the chance to do the Disciple bible study it is WONDERFUL!

Phantom of the Opera will be at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta in September.

I know you don't, Mimi...I was just kidding too.

Thank you for the compliment, though.

Maybe I need to make up some posters....

MIDDLE AGED GUY
SLIGHTLY BALDING
RAPIDLY GRAYING
A BIT OVERWEIGHT
MIDDLE CLASS
NO TRUCK
NO BOAT
MINI SCHNAUZER

Going on an ALASKAN CRUISE, need "friend".

Then I can attach Mel Gibson's photograph.

Okay, as you can tell I am sitting her listening a teleconference that doesn't really interest me too much.
