SS,

Were you asking ME where we went fishing?

If so, it was a strange experience. It is in Northern New Mexico near a place called Pecos.

There is a lake that I believe is owned by a monastary (spl?) - called Monastary Lake.

No luck - so we went to the Pecos River.

CSue, when we start having random vehicular attacks from Elk in Georgia...well, let's just say that will surely be a sign of the end times!!

Don't mention the eye situation to the insurance Co. that might work against you....they tend to look for any reason to raise your rates. Just a thought.

I read where they were going to re-introduce elk into Kentucky - it's only a matter of time before they attack you in Georgia.

Yes Sue, I was asking you.

I have not fished NM before.

Colorado was good, but my fising was during our end of July vacation to Yellowstone park.

CSUE:

Well, since this discussion is on the table (excuse this threadjack, Georgia), what is it about the deer in COLORADO?

H and I were recently in Colorado Springs and were amazed to find a deer calmly standing on the side of a major highway. We even stopped a took a photo of BAMBI....

If deer are numerous and domesticated there, I understand your anxiety in the car..

Good Morning all -

AD, I hope you didn't spend all night jumping up and down. Sure, you can join. I'll make you an honorary member since you mentioned Bankhead Forest, which I have traveled through many, many times.

The BSDK club. (Betrayed Spouse Deer Killer).

I spent much of last evening working on installing my new yard sale vase (jug?) in the pond. I plan to take pictures at lunch today and will post them this afternoon if all goes well. Needless to say, I am very, very pleased with it.

I had a wonderful visit last night. I don't remember how much I've said about this, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself. Jay lived 2 doors down from me in the old neighborhood. He is 59 and retired, his W was still an officer in the army. Last summer she was transferred to Japan, so they moved and rented out their house so they could come back when she retires.

Anyway, Jay and I were absolutely wonderful friends. Probably the best friend I've had during my adult life. We discussed about anything to the point of exhaustion. He's picked my brain at length on Biblical subjects, and I've picked his brain on just about everything else. He's got degrees in statistics, criminal justice, and Russian literature. When he lived here, he became a member of our SS class and attended faithfully. Last night we agreed that we have to get together again next year to decide who the Republicans are going to have to put up against Hillary. (Presidential politics is our specialty - even if no one else recognizes our expertise in this area).

Jay has known about the whole thing with WW and all. Last night he came to visit, he was in town to check on his house and other matters. We had some wonderful catching up to do, and it was great to see him again. I told him that Mrs. Reece's house may someday be for sale, and he said to let him know. He loved my house and said he wouldn't mind living in a smaller house (of course, I'm not sure his wife would agree). And...Jeb and Jay became fast friends. I almost couldn't pry Jeb out of Jay's lap when he got ready to leave.

Anyway, on the less positive side. He was telling me that he has some sort of mass extending from his left shoulder all the way down to his lung. He's having surgery (at a U.S. Military hospital in Japan) on August 31 to have it removed. He said he has been told that there is a chance that it is cancerous, and there is a chance that it can't be removed. So....he's quite concerned, as you can image.

Anyway, I've feeling kind of isolated and lonely. So, tomorrow night after church I'm going out with my friends P&K. And, on Friday night I'm having my friend that used to be our HR manager (the one who hired me in 1981) and his wife over to the house for dinner.

GOOD MORNING, MIMI....

The life of Georgia goes on....

Mimi,

I think it's like AD said....they've become tame. They're not afraid of cars, even though so many are hit.

FGG,

Sorry to hear about your friend's mass. How nice to be able to be there for him. Glad you have some nice plans with friends this week. You are blessed!

Thanks, CSue -

Okay, I know you've all been waiting on this.....

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mb_georgiaguy/album?.dir=/99a9

Here you find pictures of Loch Georgia Guy (with latest accoutrements), my very dented up Honda Accord, and...last but not least...where I found Jeb this morning after he went out and came back in before I went to work.

(A note of explanation. I'm washing sheets tonight, so I didn't make my bed as I normally do). Don't be too hard on me.

BAMBI burgers! BAMBI on a slab!

Let's hear it for Cougars!

Dumbest animal in all of God's creation, but a decent source of meat and clothing material!

Wow FGG,

That's impressive damage! I can see why you didn't know what hit you! jGlad the shock of being hit, because it had to be loud didn't cause you to lose control of you car.

Mine was up on the front side panel before the tire, then damage down the door a bit. Oooh, I'll never forget the sound of it.

Jeb looks as though he would prefer you not to disturb him to wash the sheets! He looks quite comfortable. He's adorable!!!

Pond looks great - Love the vase~

Good Morning, CSue -

Yes, that was quite a jolt and it was incredibly loud, too. It's incredible that an animal can do so much damage to a car.

Jeb is getting more spoiled every day. This morning when I got out of the shower I found him in the exact position you see in the picture. He's turning this into a habit.

I keep an old sheet on the top of the comforter so his dirty feet won't get my bedding dirty. Seems he now takes offense at this and prefers to sleep in MY spot and on MY pillow. I have to remind him daily that he is a DOG.

How come you didn't say hello today??????????? <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Is it because I forgot to write and tell you how great your pond is and how beautiful the vase looks in the middle?

It's a holiday here and I was looking forward to catching your "good morning" when you posted...

Anyway, I hope everything is OK. And it's OK if you don't feel like posting, but I will still remember you every morning.

Good Morning to all -

It's nice to be missed, cc, thanks for the kind comments. However, here's the real reason that I didn't say good morning. I got up yesterday, showered, got dressed, and started to head to work. It was a beautiful day, not quite so hot, low(er) humidity...and I just decided it was a great day to stay home and work in the yard. So I did.

However, here's an update for the last couple of days:

Wednesday night I had dinner at church as this has started back now. We had a guest speaker who is an author of several books and has been nominated for a Pulitzer. I haven’t read any of his books (but I must say that his lectures could use some livening up a bit!).

Immediately after church, #2S/DIL came to the house and we (along with Jeb) went to the canal in search of Water Hyacinths. #2S has a small pond on their front porch. It was dark by the time we got down there, so we had to hunt by flashlight. We found (quite by accident) a nest of what appeared to be (I think) cotton-mouth snakes (at least I think that’s what they’re called). Fortunately, I saw them before I stepped on them. However, we were able to get enough plants.

We got back home and just as they were leaving my friends P& K showed up. We had a really nice visit together and I enjoyed their company. They said that WW hasn’t been back to either SS or church since we last spoke. However, she is still coming to hand bell practice on Wednesday nights. K hasn’t had any conversations with her in a long time. Also, it sounds like #1OM has really gone off the deep end too, in many ways. I just have to wonder if WW and #1OM have reconnected somehow.

My friend P is president of the local Optimists Club. He was telling me that their monthly meeting was Thursday night (last night) and that their guest speaker was our previous U.S. Congressman who was defeated in 2004. However, he is planning on running again in 2006 and trying to reclaim his seat. P invited me to come, and I ask him if #1S could come as well.

Also, the local CASA director was the speaker last month, so I called her as well and told her about it. She came and brought another CASA volunteer and #1S came too. It was very interesting, I enjoyed his informal discussion of how Congress works behind the scenes and how the committees function, etc. Also, he talked about his work on the transportation, agriculture, and education committees.

#1S met with him afterwards and volunteered to work on his campaign. Keeping in mind that #1S is soon to receive his Masters’ in Public Administration, I think he’s probably just the kind of help that the congressman would like to have. He gave #1S his personal cell phone number and told him to call him and they would get together and work on some details. They talked a long time last night. I will be very, very surprised if #1S doesn’t end up in some sort of politics some day. He’s applied for a job locally as the mayor’s assistant, but the city isn’t going to fill the position until after the November elections so the newly elected mayor can participate in the selection process.

Tonight I’m having my friends J&L over for dinner. I’m fixing my special Cordon Bleu, red-skin mashed potatoes, broccoli with cheese sauce, and rolls. He is the guy who was formerly our Human Resources director and hired me in 1981. He has since (about 5 years ago) had to take medical retirement. I remember when he went through his divorce, he used to call me to his office and I would go in, close the door, and pray with him. About 3 years ago, I had the honor of discussing with him his relationship with the Lord, his need for repentance, and his salvation. His life has totally turned about from where he used to be (lots of personal issues), and he credits it to God using his medical issues to get his attention and change his life. When he was at his worst (medically) he was keeping himself busy by painting bird houses. He gave me one of his bird houses during that time, and I’ve got it on my list of things I want from the divorce. It is very special to me.

And, his 2nd wife was a teacher, she retired last year. In high school, one of her students was #1DIL. DIL hasn’t forgotten that L gave her detention for talking in class. It is not hard at all to picture DIL talking and getting in trouble, she has a hard time containing her words sometimes!!

And….to conclude, I have an appointment this Sunday afternoon to meet the father of my CASA kids. I’m looking forward to that.

Jeb says to tell everyone “hi”.

GOOD MORNING, MIMI….

Yep, it is.

I read your review and commens of BOLD LOVE. I've not got my copy yet. However, from your comments, I'll lower my protective fence a few notches and say that it sounds okay.

Actually, it sounds like something that I will enjoy reading. However, you're obviously a faster reader than I and you may be done before I start.

Actually, it's very slow reading for me.

Wow, I'm struggling with his thoughts on FORGIVENESS...will probably be posting some more on that later today if I have time...
