I must say that this board has really gone to the f-ing dogs. Traffic is defintely slower and the navigation is an absolute nightmare. I know that this board "upgrade" has defintely weaned me from this board and now I don't even check the board during the day. DO others feel the same?, or is it just my imagination. Has anyone talked to the baord administrators about this? Oh well, at least I can say that the "cold turkey" approach works here with regards to quitting this. It is kind of libearting not really caring too much about this board with what has gone down here and the mess that this board has turned into. Anyways, just a few musings from me. I hope everyone is having a great Spring day.
Good day to all!

I agree with you lemonman, I have been having problems with this board, and it is not easy to get around. It took me almost a week to be able to even post. I am sure I will get use to it, however there is not the pull to this place that there use to be.
Hope all is well with you.

Lemonman,
For some reason when I read your thread the format is all the way across my computer so I have to go down and use the arrow keys to read it (half off the screen).
Something is set up differently in the way your threads show.
Anybody else notice that about lman's thread?
And yes a lot are missing, I could name quite a few right off the top of my head and I worry they are not able to get on because of technical problems.

I agree that there are lots of bugs to work out of the new format. I personally have not had a problem other than the occasional log out.
lemonman, your sig line link is what is causing this thread to streeeeeeeeeetch out so long.

Lemmonman everytime I post anything I get bumped off of here. I to am becoming tired of this. I may just forget about this site and stop all together. Hate to fumble alone again. But the fustration is great. I fumbled alone for 2 yrs till after d-day when I found this and still really need advice. Things are much better but I dtill have my fears. Being here makes me feel better and stronger -just knowing I can ask a question or tell people some of my stupid fears is so good. Its nice to have sane people to bonce things off of.

Folks,
I also struggled with this new format. Could not login, was logged out everytime I did something. What I found out was I needed to reset some of the flags in my web broswer. Now it is far easier for me to move around than it was in the old format. I don't get logged off as I post to new topics and it seems to be faster.
Please go read the instructions in the technical notes section at the top of the page. In my case I could not log on until I cleared the "cookies" in my Netscape browser, then no problem. Once I set it to refresh the setting only once a day or so, that seemed to end getting logged off or postings vanishing into the ether.
So check it out, and see if some of these things will help you. It sure did me.

I'll say it again...I have not been logged out since downloading mozilla browser and I was getting logged out ALL THE TIME on the OLD boards...
I must be in the minority about this new board, but I do like it a lot!

Apparently IT people believe they have done their best for us. I think that a "useability test" was needed before they 'went to air'. CV55 and me would have been perfect candidates to run the new site by. Er? Huh? Ewe!
I sure hope we can work out how to use this place. I really miss everyone and have no idea if my first reply will even work. BTW JL - thanx for your comments. Dare I say, for me personally, they are the most useful things you've ever said. :-)

I like it !
People hate change and as a body we aren't 'power' IT users.
Much faster to me and many more facilities ! The old board was so staggeringly slow I could barely use it at busy times.
I bet new users joining will find this board much easier to use than they would have the old one.
Once the migration problems have been sorted I think we'll get used to this just fine !

I still think it should be fixed so that you can use the IE browser if you want to instead of having to use Mozilla. IE is the most popular browser and some people don't have the option of downloading something else (like at work).
Other than that it seems to be fairly easy to use but hard to learn in the beginning.
There does seem to be an awful lot of clicking around though.

Firefox is something I've been meaning to download for over a year, more-so since I went to work at this new company and one of their IT people told me how vulnerable computers were that used the IE browser, especially to spyware.
This gave me the motivation to just do it, and I've never looked back.

I felt demented not being able to post. I tried all the tricks recommended but eventually just re-registered as a completely different user. I am back to being a junior member but I have full access to the site. So if you can 'bear' to lose your identity (I know some people really dislike the thought of doing this), it has made navigation so simple. After only a few days, I am comfortable with the new format and it is definitely faster. I also log-on through Mozilla Firefox and have never been logged out. TT

For some reason I can post using IE but not using Firefox. I don't understand why it seems to be the opposite for everyone else! But I still sometimes get logged off and I don't know how to solve that.

Hi LM,
I don't really care for this new format either.I find myself ignoring MB a lot now, maybe in part to this new forum but also because Spring is calling and I feel a need to place my energies elsewhere for awhile.I know that if things didn't change then I might be on more.
But,"I'm just not that into it" you know? Can't get motivated. And I keep getting logged out which is a pain and I am sick of jumping through hoops just to be here.Complain complain.Maybe it's time for me to move on,as they say.Who knows,I might feel differently one day.

I must admit that i actully like the new board. I am used to being the minority!! It is much faster for me and it is alot easier for me to post.
I had downloaded Firefox before the board changed and haven't had the log out probs. I fixed the "reading threads" prob by changing the display prefs.
I HAVE noticed that there are a lot of people missing. I'm afraid it may be due to tech probs and the fact that the board was down so long.
I've missed you LM, and hope that you don't stay away altogether. I like your not-quite-MB voice, a different (and sometimes right on the money) POV!!!
