[color:"purple"]'high road'...Hi.

I was advised by my computer expert~lol~that it is okay to have two icons for connecting to the Internet.
Is that what you think also?

I think of it as backup...If for some reason IE were ever having technical difficulties, we could connect through Firefox and vise versa.

Or did you completely remove Internet Explorer?
I still like it best for emailing.

Sincerely, Julie

When I first started using the forum, I was using Internet Explorer. I was logged off constantly. I read a post about Mozilla Firefox and downloaded it. I won't say I never get logged off, but now it doesn't happen nearly as often for me as it did before. To keep my own frustration level down, I have started copying and pasting my post to my word processor, after typing it, but before previewing or sending. Cause once I got a message that the document was empty when I tried to send it.

It seems strange that some of us are having better luck with Firefox than others??

[color:"mediumblue"]Tama, I don't understand either why Mozilla Firefox works so well for most of us and not very good for a few.

It probably has something to do with how are computers are
set up, firewalls, cookies, etc.

I know on the old message board, it was recommended to download it...I kinda ignored it; then Bob Pure recommended it again and many of us downloaded it.

And most of us were glad we did; as we were staying logged on for a change!

I give 'beginner' computer lessons from my home so I like learning all I can.

Anyone with suggestions, jump right in.
Or if you are especially pleased with Firefox, let others know.

P.S. I just learned today how to add color.~lol~

Sincerely, Julie

[color:"purple"]Hi TNT.
Would you happen to know the address for 'plain' Mozilla?

I checked on the Internet and it said updated versions of Mozilla are released every quarter. Do you suppose yours is an older version; before Firefox?

It also said to uninstall Mozilla when upgrading it.

If anyone wants the Mozilla Firefox download address,
it is in the first post of this thread.

[color:"green"]Hi Archuletan.
I think that probably almost all of our MB friends have
read this thread and know the wonderful advantages to
downloading Mozilla Firefox.
(The main advantage is staying LOGGED ON.)

By the way, is Foxfire working pretty good for you?
Did you check in 'My Home' to see if the 'Default View'
was 'Collapsed Topics' rather than 'Expanded Topics'?

I wanted to tell you that I have been HONORED that you made this topic a 'sticky' thread and kept it at the top.
I LOVE being helpful. (I am a lot better giving computer advice than I am giving marriage advice!~lol~)

However, I think it is time to 'unsticky' this topic, as MB friends are probably getting tired of seeing it at the top.

Thanks, Julie

[color:"mediumblue"]Bob, did you notice several posts up that I said it was you that recommended downloading Mozilla Firefox on the previous message board?

Thanks so much, I am so glad I downloaded it as I NEVER get
logged off anymore.
(I am sure MANY are glad they downloaded it also.)

Anyone know how I can get the moderator to take this off of
'sticky' so it won't be at the top anymore?

Sincerely, Julie

Hi Julie,
This may come as a surprise, but not every MB poster comes here every day . I'm going to leave it at the top for a couple more days, unless Tempest or Justuss takes it down first.

I'm just stopping in to add my name to the list of those that have installed Mozilla with no problems.

It seems to be the only way I can stay logged in.

[color:"mediumblue"]You are very welcome, WACKY.
I love Firefox download also. I can't stay logged on at all with Internet Explorer.

[color:"darkgreen"]Here is something else that is a problem.

Have all of you noticed that when you click on 'Discussion Forum', at the top of this Marriage Builder's page, in red, (far right lower corner) and then click on 'Enter discussion message board' it will take you back to the OLD MESSAGE BOARD with archive messages only?

GO CHECK and you will see that there are a hundred or so visitors at all times. I don't think these people know about this interactive discussion board, do you?

I have been a regular reader and poster for the past year and a half and thought for several days that the message board wasn't working; that all we had were archive messages to read.

(So how could a new person know what to do? They would be seeing 'Discussion Forum' on the Home page, click on it and land in the old message board.)

The address above the old message board is almost unnoticable, it says something like: "Click here for the new message board."

I wonder why they (creators of this new message board) don't just do away with the old message board and only have this new message board appear, when a person clicks on the discussion forum?

Anyone have an answer?

Sincerely, Julie

I need to clear something up.

When I said they need to do away with the old message board,
I didn't mean the archive messages.

They had said they were transferring all messages to this new board.

I meant when someone goes to the discussion forum on the Home page, it would take them to this new message board not the old one.

[color:"mediumblue"]Lunamare, this would be my suggestion to you:

Go to 'My Home' right above these messages.

Click on 'Display Preferences' and to the right, click on 'Edit'

Then be sure that 'Default Display' mode is on FLAT MODE.

Also that 'Default View' is on COLLAPSED

Then click on: 'SUBMIT'

Let us know if this helps; I sure hope so.

Sincerely, Julie
P.S. If that doesn't work, I would sure recommend downloading Firefox.
The address is in the first post of this thread.

My Goodness, a person can learn something new about these message boards everyday.

By clicking on 'Discussion Forum' in the upper right hand corner, it takes you to a place to click on called: Enter marriage builder message board, HOWEVER it takes you to the OLD MESSAGE BOARD with only archive messages.

There are 186 guests viewing the OLD MESSAGE BOARD.
They may not even know there is a board where they can post!

Something I never noticed until today.
By going to Main Menu
General Questions II

It shows how many people are viewing this message board.

At this moment, 10:22 my time, there are 63 guests viewing.

Just a note for a few of those still having problems and especially to those who arent too computer savvy (like me).

Downloading Netscape 7.2 (MUST be 7.2) will likely fix any log off problems. It has the mozilla browswer built in.

http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp

Then follow these steps offered by MB as follows:

Open Netscape 7.2

Select Edit -> (top left corner)

Go to Preferences -> (at the bottom of menu)

Click the '+' next to "Advanced" (+ isn't actually there, just left click very close and to the left of "advanced")

Select (left click on) "Cache"

Menu on the right says "Document in cache is compared to Document on network:"
->"Once Per session"
->"Every time"
->"Never"
Choose "Every Time" (by left clicking in the cirle to the left of "every time"

Click "OK" to save your settings and your done.

After doing this there is no need to "maintain cookies" You won't be logged out ever again and infact Netscape will offer to "remember you" and you never even have to log in again (write your password down or you may forget it later)
(only choose this option if you ar ethe only one using your computer or others can access your account)

I have heard a few people say that this fix works when simple Mozilla did NOT.

If you wish, set up Netscape to open to your home page (email accounts etc) and you'll never go back to IE. Netscape is faster and easier to use.

Edited to add a link to the 7.2 DL.

It took me a few times to realize and find the new board. I kept entering through my bookmarks and it took me to the old board. I'd zip down to the threads missing the new forum link. I figured out that the date wasn't changing from Mar, 23 and that I couldn't post. I thought they still hadn't fixed it yet. I felt kind of stupid but relieved when I found the new board after I thought it may have something to do with my bookmark.

I imagine there are others in a similar situation. Even a few older members, not just newbies. We are still missing some folks here.

The moderators should have the top thread be a link to the new forum or something with an explanations.

[color:"mediumblue"]Racer, you are VERY computer savvy.
That sounds TOO complicated to me!~lol~
I think I will just stick to Mozilla Firefox since it is working GREAT.

Trix, I agree there needs to be a change, so people can easily find this new message board.

I went up to the red area above these messages and clicked on 'Discussion Forum' and then 'Enter MB discussion forem, Click Here' and it takes me to the OLD MESSAGE BOARD.

I clicked on 'Recent Visitors' and there have been 123 in the past hour, yesterday I checked and during one hour were 215.

It said the Visitor Record was 628 on Mar 28.
That means MOST OF US WENT TO THE OLD BOARDS
when they first set up this new board.

My question is this:
When we click on 'Enter discussion forum', why doesn't it take us directly to this NEW MESSAGE BOARD?

Sincerely, Julie
